The Coach House Reviews

Jacqui
This apartment is in a beautiful area and there are plenty of walks and places to visit nearby. The apartment itself is on the first floor with just the utility room on the ground floor which leads ito the garden where we were greeted by a very friendly cat. It is clean and very well equipped and we had a welcome basket on arrival which was lovely and the fudge was delicious. The fans were also a very welcome addition during an extremely hot weekend! There is a BBQ area but no BBQ or BBQ utensils, although this was not a problem for us as we bought a disposable one. We would definitely recommend a holiday here in such a beautiful and peaceful area.
What a wonderful place, small but feels spacious. Well kitted out kitchen, all very clean. Both en suite bedrooms comfortable and bright. We had a very warm welcome from a tortoiseshell cat
We had a very enjoyable, comfortable and relaxing stay at The Coach House. The facilities are first class, and we enjoyed the great view over open countryside. If the weather isn't too grand, it is a great place to chill out whilst staying warm by the log burner. and the garden and BBQ space will be a great facility in warmer seasons. The Coach House is in a lovely, peaceful location, yet not too far from local facilities, with Ludlow just down the road and well placed for reaching a variety of destinations. No hesitation in recommending. Thanks once again to Julie and Mike for a warm welcome. Julie & Ewan McConnell. February 2026
We were really amazed when we pulled onto the drive and saw the lovely Coach House. After a challenging year we wanted to combine peace and quiet with a good base to visit family and friends. We definitely found the peace and quiet only the occasional owl hoot or pheasant squawk to disturb the silence. Waking up to fantastic country views was just what we wanted and the accommodation inside is cosy, warm and comfortable. We slept very well and enjoyed cooking one full meal in the kitchen where everything was provided thank you also to Julie and Mike for providing a very welcome bottle of milk, loaf of crusty bread and some fudge. We will definitely be booking again because the location is superb and it has so much to offer. We very much enjoyed The Clive Arms and Farmshop complex nearby too.
Had a lovely time staying in the Coach House. The owner had left a few items to welcome us there, the accommodation was great and we loved the whole set up.
A beautiful well appointed and clean property in a very quiet location with everything you need for a relaxing break in what was our first visit to Shropshire. The owners Julie & Mike were on hand if needed but were not intrusive and the welcome basket including fruit picked from their own garden was a nice touch. I enjoyed talking to Julie on a couple of occasions when she was able to give advice on the local area. As mentioned in a previous review the bedrooms with ensuite facilities are at opposite ends of the building from each other separated by the KitchenDiningLounge space which is ideal for privacy and the showers and beds were both great. Kitchen is very well equipped with everything we needed to prepare our own evening meals. Only very minor gripe was that only 2 dishwasher tablets were provided for the week, would be nice if there were more and maybe an additional T Towel. Lounge area very comfortable and internet rock solid which is good as you will probably need to make use of WiFi calling when indoors as mobile signal can be variable across networks. We really enjoyed our week here. It's ideally placed for Ludlow and also 5 minutes from the A49 so we could easily get to Shrewsbury which is a lovely little town, Walking in the Shropshire Hills was an easy journey The Long Mynd and Stiperstones are both great day walks with amazing views without the effort required in say the Lake District or Snowdonia. We'd have no hesitation in staying at this property again when we inevitably return to Shropshire
We were impressed with the Coach house a comfortable, well equipped flat in a lovely countryside setting. It is a great base for walking and local attractions around Ludlow. The owners helpfully provided information on walks and cycle routes starting at the property.
Michael
An excellent property to enjoy and use as a base for exploring the area, by car, bike and foot. Well equipped and everything working. Comfortable beds, efficient WiFi. Helpful but not intrusive owners. Peaceful location except for the pigeons! It would have been helpful to have had access to the instructions for the appliances. Missing was comfortable garden furniture, even though there was a new addition. We brought our own and were glad that we did.
Heather
Excellent! Lovely accommodation in idyllic setting. Really peaceful yet a short distance from some beautiful villages and towns. Mike and Julie have thought of everything and even offered us cycle storage and supplied some local routes. Couldnt complain about anything. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedding and towels were lush! The layout is perfect for 2 couples as the rooms are at opposite ends of the building, both with ensuites. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely accommodation, well maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Coach House. Some suggested additional benefit would be rubber anti slip bath mat for the shower over the bath. Double up on the crockery and cutlery to reduce the times the dishwasher is on and provision of dishwasher tablets only two left . Provision of additional rubbish bags and clear instructions on how where to put the recycling items etc. Hope that is not too picky its just what we have picked up on many many rentals.
Angela
This is a lovely property, beautifully presented and extremely well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay here. It is in a great location to explore Ludlow, Church Stretton, the black and white villages and so much more. Set in a peaceful spot with offroad parking and its own outside space it ticked all our boxes! Would not hesitate to return when visiting this area again and would highly recommend it to anyone who is considering it.
Very enjoyable stay, owner so pleasant and helpful. Lovely location, surrounded by nature, very peaceful.
Great apartment in quiet location with wonderful views. Very comfortable accommodation and fully equipped. Most attractions within easy reach.
The Coach House is very clean and well presented. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathrooms were excellent. The sofas are a little low and deep for my liking, but otherwise the Coach House is comfortable with views over neighbouring fields. The Clive Arms is good for eating out, and the Ludlow Farm Shop has some quality local food. Ww would recommend the Coach House as a good centre for exploring the Ludlow area, the Welsh Borders and the Shropshire Hills.
Lovely comfortable place, well equipped in kitchen, just a lack of bleach to clean sink plug hole which was tea stained, but I bought some to clean it. Bed and Bedroom linen and bathroom towels were excellent. Again lack of toilet gel so I used mine. Suggestions Bedrooms could do with a chair in the huge void space. Lounge could do with a clock. Overall, the coach house was excellent. We were able to walk through footpath to Ludlow and get last bus. Croft castle, Berrington hall both worth a visit if NT members, Leominster market day good. Bus to Leintwendein and walk back through footpath made a lovely day, Hereford also worth a visit, a beautiful city. The coach house is well situated to visit all these places. Thank you for welcome pack and having us stay
Dorothy
Four of us stayed at the property, there was ample room. It was very comfortable. We slept extremely well even allowing for the 'health and safety' lighting at night. Everything was there that we needed including a musical washing machine
Andrew
Fantastic accommodation and in such a beautiful setting. The layout works perfectly, everything is spotlessly clean and all the equipment first class. We felt right at home immediately. Watching lambs being born from the lounge window was an unexpected highlight! Wonderful local walks around Downton and some great places to visit. Ludlow is a gem of a place as are Stokesay Castle, Powis Castle, Ironbridge and the quite brilliant fish and chip shop in Leintwardine!
Michele
3 night short break, fantastic place, great location just 3 miles from Ludlow, absolute peace and quiet, lovely south facing terrace over open fields. Apartment was immaculate, comfy sofas, well equipped modern kitchen, heating was brilliant, showers very hot, lovely fluffy towels and top quality bed linens and pillows, this place is amazing, lots of local information, plus nature books. Big crusty load, shortbread, fudge, tea, coffee, sugar welcome pack. Thanks for a great stay.
Amelia
The Coach House was one of the best holiday apartments that we have stayed in! Set in beautiful countryside, the property is superb. So much thought has been given to everything within the property. The bed linen and towels were of an exceptional quality and all fixtures and fittings were of a high standard. The bed was extremely comfy and the two ensuites were delightful again very clean and of a high standard. The cleanliness was superb with a lot of attention to detail. Kitchen had an abundance of equipment. There is emergency lighting which I know some people from the reviews found it a bit annoying to have the green light at night in the bedroom, but for us it didnt affect the quality of our sleep whatsoever and it is there following the latest regulations. We can highly recommend The Lion at Leintwardine for superb food and ambience. There is nothing to fault whatsoever in the property and we will definitely be returning.
Lovely modern, clean and cosy. Appointed really well throughout. Peaceful area of countryside, listening to the owls at night and close to the beautiful town of Ludlow. Really sad to leave, but I think well be back!
Miraenny
A great place to stay for a long weekend in a lovely quiet location yet within easy reach of Ludlow and surrounding area. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. The standard of fittings, linen and towels was excellent. Would happily book again.
Russell
We enjoyed our at the coach house immensely. Everything we needed was catered for. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. The bedding and towels were top quality and the beds were very comfortable. It is very well appointed and the space is used very well. We would recommend the coach house to anyone in a heartbeat. By far the best accomadation we have stayed in. Nice and peaceful.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Coach House. Lovely views and nice seating area outside. Very relaxing place to stay. Rural location but easy to get to, close to Ludlow Farm shop which was very useful both for shopping and cafe. Hope to return.
Christopher
What a superb property! We had an outstanding stay in The Coach House. Very fresh and well appointed, clean and had everything we could possibly need. Well designed, comfortable and high quality. Would suggest some cushions for the bench outside. Many thanks for providing an excellent place to stay in wonderful countryside. We will return!
Really lovely coach house in beautiful location. Everything was there that was needed and was lovely and clean.Couldn't fault it
Carole
We've had a lovely holiday and felt very much at home in the cottage. Thank you for being so accommodating, which has meant a lot to us. We would definitely love to stay another time. Wishing you all the best for the future in your venture.
The Coach House The Coach House was very clean and well equipped. The bedding was immaculate and the beds very comfortable. We did find, however, that because the glass in the picture window in the living room had no heat reflecting capabilities and there were no blinds, the window was facing the sun all afternoon and the property became uncomfortably hot, even with all the windows open, and stayed so all night. Perhaps blinds could be fitted or a fan provided? Our other small issue was outside lighting. On the first night the outside up and down lights on the property kept flicking on and off, all night, for no apparent reason. This wouldnt have been a problem but for the fact that a light unit had been fitted directly underneath each bedroom window so they kept shining through the curtains. The second day we played with the unmarked switches by the door and it seemed to be better but there didnt seem to be a way of just turning it off. Stable cottage, next door, and very close, though not visible in the photos or mentioned in the description, and had multiple outside LED lights. One of their floodlights was pointed at the bedroom on the one end of the Coach House and on the second night that was flashing on and off, again, all night for no apparent reason. It was like being next to a light house! Luckily it was off for the third and final night. It also had windows above and overlooking the bedroom so we felt obliged to keep the curtains shut all the time. I would have mentioned these minor points to the ownersmanager but nobody met us on the first day or made contact during our stay. I fully appreciate some guests may not be bothered by these issues but we found it too warm and too bright at night. So overall, a lovely property in a great location but we wouldnt return due to the aforementioned issues.
Darryl
Enjoyable stay in quiet location but close to good pubs, ludlow and farm shop.
