Belmont Bridge Reviews

We felt very comfortable in the cottage from the start, very clean and lovingly decorated. The hosts live next door and were friendly but not intrusive. The weather smiled on us and we enjoyed long days out in the car but equally enjoyed the canal walks from the cottage gate. Truly a most memorable holiday, we were sad to leave and hope to return here in the future.
Elizabeth
Delightful cottage. Clean and well equipped. Large garden with seating.
We had a great stay. The cottage is spotlessly clean, spacious, and light. We particularly enjoyed looking out onto the garden and enjoyed sitting out. There are various places to sit in the garden and we enjoyed the summerhouse looking out in the direction of the canal. It was a bonus having a bath and a shower. It's a quiet location but close to many national trust properties. There is also a spa hotel 5 mins drive away and plenty of places to eat out if you don't fancy cooking.

Over the years we have visited many holiday cottages and found Belmont Bridge to be one of the very best with excellent facilities and a high standard of comfort. For anyone wishing to visit Shropshire and North Wales the cottage provides a good base from which to explore the area. Being situated on the Llangollen Canal it is surrounded by attractive countryside and the towpath offers easy walking with the opportunity to lunch at nearby pubs and to enjoy the passing narrowboat traffic on the way. The owner, Tracy, looked in while we were staying and proved to be very pleasant and helpful comments in the visitors book confirmed this. We have no hesitation in recommending Belmont Bridge.
Wonderfully presented, super clean, great location. Cottage has many lovely little touches. Canal on the doorstep literally through the gate in the garden. Tracy and Nigel were fab, understanding hosts.
Louise
Lovely cottage, great location. Loved the fireplace, had everything we could possibly want. Thank you.
6 out of 5 stars! An absolutely fabulous cottage in a superb location. Charmingly rural yet not far from a main road, making travel to many destinations straightforward. Magical walks along the nearby canal and views over the Shropshire countryside made for a delightful stay. The cottage was extremely well equipped and attention to detail throughout was exceptional. The fireplace was an added bonus, a historical feature dating from 1632 but with a 21st century wood burner! Highly recommended, we certainly plan to return.
Truly beautiful property setting, interior and location just off the canal. A great property for exploring Shropshire and Welsh borders with variety of adventures to be had Chirk Castle, British Ironworks, Cambrian railway, use the excellent train service from Gobowen to explore Wrexham or Chester, Chester Zoo and walking the canal paths. Cottage supplied with everything you could need and owners friendly.
We have had a fabulous week in this amazing Spotless cottage, definitely a home from home. A beautiful garden where we have enjoyed watching the wildlife. We have loved seeing the boats going past and feeding the ducks. It was great to relax and recharge our batteries in a great location. Theres lots of places to visit in the area too. Thank you Tracy and Nigel for making us welcome. We will definitely be booking again.
Belmont Bridge was absolutely perfect. It was spotlessly clean, the garden was beautiful, with access straight out of the garden gate onto the canal towpath. Lots to see and do in the area. The lovely owners have thought of everything for a comfortable stay. Would highly recommend.
Beautiful cottage with an equally impressive garden. A nice part of the country especially with the canal going past. Very friendly host with a lovely dog.
Catherine
We enjoyed our stay it was very central for everything we wanted especially for the national trust houses, and Tracey and Nigel were lovely and friendly, and helpful, and accommodation had everything needed for a lovely stay.
We had an amazing time staying at Belmont Bridge. The cottage is wonderful and felt like home from home. It has everything you can imagine you would ever need and the situation right by the canal is superb! In fact, it is beautiful scenery all round. The owners Tracy were amazing, making sure we were comfortable and also leaving us a lovely gift as we were celebrating our daughter's birthday. A time away we will be repeating in the not too distant future! Superb!
Daniel
Had a wonderful stay at Belmont Bridge. The cottage was spotlessly clean and offered home from home comfort. The bird life in the garden was an bonus and having walks from the garden directly onto the Llangollen canal and upto Chirk aqueduct was lovely. The cottage is perfectly located to visit the Pontcysyllte aqueduct as well as National Trust properties Chirk Castle, Erdigg and Powys Castle. Thanks to owners Tracy and Nigel for a great break. We will be returning.
Patricia
A lovely time was spent in this great cottage. It was very comfortable and the log burner kept us warm after long walks along the canal. It was great to each have a sofa in the evenings, watching Sky tv in front of the fire after a meal cooked in a well thought out kitchen. Everything you needed was there. Lots of hot water from a great shower and the beds were so comfortable. Tracy was easy to contact by phone and she had left us a welcome pack which was very thoughtful. Overall we could not fault our stay. We have rented a lot of cottages over the last few years around the UK but this was one of the best and we will be back for a summer break soon. Thank you Tracy and Nigel for a great stay xx
Cynthia
Excellent cottage, really a home from home. Warm, comfortable and very wellequipped. Plenty of helpful hints and suggestions for places to visit and to eat out and perfect for sight seeing and walking, particularly along the canal paths. It was wonderful to see the birdlife which flocked to the feeders. A very enjoyable experience and we hope to visit again.
What a find! This is a beautiful , well presented cottage equipped with everything you will need for your holiday. The icing on the cake was the gate from garden onto the canal towpath, where we had some lovely walks. We intend going back next year, hopefully for longer as the area is so lovely. Thank you Tracy and Nigel
Timothy
Tracy made us feel most welcome on our arrival and throughout our stay. Belmont Bridge is ideally situated to explore the area. Excellent secure storage for bicycles canoes etc. We enjoyed our stay so much that we will have to come back again, as a week wasn't long enough! Tim, Carol and Joan.
Christopher
Belmont Bridge is a very well maintained and equipped property attached to the owner house. The owners, Tracy & Nigel, are very helpful if you need to know about the area and Meg the dog likes her tummy rubbed !. We went in July, so if you like a bit of fishing, best time is early morning or evening when the narrow boats are less frequent. Overall a very enjoyable holiday.
Catherine
We really enjoyed our week at Belmont Bridge. We loved exploring the local sights and attractions before coming back for a lovely walk along the canal or to watch the wildlife in the garden. The property had everything we needed and more and we would love to visit again.
Lovely cottage, everything we needed, nice and quiet. Loved the bird life in the garden.
Anthony
One of the best cottages that we have stayed in, in 30 years of such holidays. Comfortable inside, lovely garden, quiet situation by the canal, yet easy access from the main road system. Thoroughly recommended.
This was a lovely cottage, beautifully kept and equipped with everything you may need. The location is wonderful, being able to go straight onto the canal path from the garden. Peaceful and comfortable, it's one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in.
Robert

Belmont Bridge is a truly outstanding holiday property in a perfect canal side location for lovely walks with ample private garden and parking. The owners couldn't have done more to make it feel like a real home from home and had provided everything you could possibly think of to make our stay relaxed and comfortable. Probably one of the best holiday homes we have ever stayed in. We will definitely book again.
A beautiful cottage with excellent facilities. A great base for surrounding tourist spots.
The property was very clean and welcoming with a very beautiful well kept garden by the side of the canal. Nigel & Tracy were very helpful. We also had quite bit of entertainment watching the squirrels and birds on the feeders just out side the window. Would recommend this cottage to any one. We had a great holiday
Malcolm
This is a wonderful place for everyone, the accommodation is of a very high standard, information supplied for things to do and places to visit are superb. Tracy is the ideal host, not in your lap, but always available if help is needed.
A pleasure to stay here. Location is great, facilities even better. Comfy clean and secure. Would recommend to anyone as a quiet, entertaining destination. Nigel and Tracy could not have been more helpful. Hopefully we will visit again soon. Thank you!

Andrea
This was a wonderful cottage in a very peaceful area with only the birds and canal boats to be heard. A very comfortable cottage with every amenity you could need. A real home from home. A lovely area with lots to do. We hope to revisit one day.
I would certainly recommend this holiday home. It was very spacious and well equipped. It is situated in a quiet rural location, and in easy reach of lots of things to do and see. There are some lovely walks along the side of the canal, which is at the bottom of the garden. My wife and I hope to return in the future and would not hesitate to book this property again, as there is so much more to see and do. A big thumbs up.
The cottage is beautiful , spotlessly clean , well equipped , and comfortable. We really enjoyed our week there , and liked that walks possible from garden onto canal towpath . Owners very nice and helpful . Cottage peaceful , but not far from local shops . we hope to be back for another week , thanks again.
Deborah
Extremely comfortable and well equipped spotlessly clean. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Tracy and family are very welcoming and helpful with information about the area. Would highly recommend, and look forward to a return stay.
We had a wonderful stay at Belmont Bridge. The cottage is super clean, spacious and one of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in, we all slept extremely well. Due to the petrol crisis we had to leave our car at home and travel by train. Property owner Tracy went out of her way to accommodate us, picking us up and taking us to the station and giving us some great tips for walks and places to eat out within walking distance. We also had some fascinating conversations about the history of the cottage which is all a bit of a mystery. We hope to return with the car in the not to distant future and explore more of this lovely area.
Our stay was close to home but we felt it was a new place. The house was next to the canal which was quite busy . We had everything we needed at the house and the owners, living next door , were so helpful. The place was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The house does have quite a history to it. Of course it is in a lovely area being on the Welsh border and there are several really interesting places to eat. We enjoyed it so much we hope to return.
We were really very surprised with the cleanliness and presentation of the accommodation, it was absolutely spotless. The proximity to the canal was an added bonus and we really couldn't have asked for more. Tracey and Nigel were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They recommended places to visit and eat and were kind enough to let us help ourselves to apples from the tree which were delicious in a crumble. We'll definitely be back.
There is quite simply nothing negative to say about Belmont Bridge! It is a beautiful place to stay both inside and out! So nice to walk straight onto the canal towpath as well as having Wales just a short drive away. It was easy to find and had plenty of parking space. It was so quiet and in an idyllic location. We loved our stay and would definitely go back! The owners had provided everything you could need and the place felt so clean when we arrived. They were helpful every time we contacted them and we really appreciate what they did for us. They even helped us with car trouble when we were about to leave! If you are thinking about booking Belmont then do it!!
