Wilstone Cottage Reviews

Shneur
We came to Wilstone Cottage looking for a quiet weekend getaway, and it did not disappoint. The character and comfort of the house with its wooden beams and cosy interior is wonderful. Would highly recommend and hope to come back soon.
Penelope
Lovely cottage in excellent location. Very helpful owner. Slight issues with the heating which turned off in the afternoon. Some of the kitchen equipment didn't meet the high standard of the cottage overall rubbish kitchen knives, no roasting tinsdishes
Lovely cosy cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Loads of hot water and efficient showers. Steep stairs and low beams to be aware of but not a problem. Owner sorted out the heating timing for us over the phone but popped in to check it was OK. Bring your own bath sheets if you like a big towel but the ones provided were adequate. Great walking on the doorstep and only a 20minute amble to the pub. A fabulous place to stay for a New Year break.
Wilstone cottage is a lovely old cottage, full of character and very comfortable. We were there for Christmas week and they put up a tree and even knocked on Christmas Eve to make sure we had all we needed for the big feast. Such a lovely place so quiet and dark, my other half brought his telescope and said it was excellent for dark skies, Ive never slept so well! It does remind me of the little cottage in the movie The Holiday but bigger! Highly recommend staying there, the stairs are a bit steep and the roads getting there narrow but worth it.
Richard
We had an absolutely lovely stay at Wilstone Cottage, it was clean, warm, comfortable and homely with the added bonus of a decorated Christmas Tree! The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious, the living room cosy especially with the log burner and the kitchen had everything we needed. We definitely hope to be back in the future hopefully in the summer to make use of the outdoor space too!
Annette
Wow what a place for peace and quiet
Beverly
What a delightful cottage. A group of friends we had a less than enjoyable stay at a cottage last year so we were prepared to be cold but Wilstone cottage is warm, clean and well appointed. The weather was wet and miserable and yet the location was still lovely. I would love to visit again.
Louise
What a beautiful cottage set in the rolling Shropshire hills. We a family of 6 found the property to be spacious but cosy. We enjoyed a roaring log fire in the evenings and the location was perfect for completing walks across the Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge. Easy check in and beds were changed into two singles for the older two with no problem at all.
Lovely cottage in a delightful spot. Very clean. Very comfortable.
We were a group of 5, but 6 would be fine in this cosy cottage. Appliances were easy to operate. Lovely to have parking for three cars . The infirm might find the stairs challenging with no shoes on!
Suzanne
Fabulous spot with fabulous views all round! We had a lovely few days here, would recommend popping to the local pub for food. The cottage was comfortable, especially the beds and we were left a generous supply logs for the fire and other helpful items.
Catherine
The cottage was beautiful set in a lovely location with fantastic views from the terrace. We had everything we needed inside and it was spotlessly clean. The pub did lovely food and was just a 10 minute walk down the road. I would thoroughly recommend Wilstone Cottage to anyone.
Sandra
Peaceful location with lovely views Very comfortable beds and sofas. , Kitchen equipment good. Stairs could be a problem with less able and very young children. Very narrow lanes to reach main road, but soon got used to where the pull ins were. Great little pub in the village, with good meals and cosy atmosphere and friendly people
Susannah
Lovely, cosy but spacious cottage with beautiful views set in picturesque rural countryside. Fantastic walks into the local hills and to Church Stretton straight from the door. Low beams and internal steps may be an issue for some, but add to the character of this pretty property. Plenty of blackberries for picking in the lane near the cottage at this time of year. We had a lovely holiday here.
The cottage sits in beautiful settings and is ideally situated. The accommodation is spacious and tastefully decorated. The owner is easy to contact and always helped out with our enquiries. I would fully recommend.
Annette
A really lovely cottage in a wonderfull environment. The view is stunning. Also, the property is very clean and the beds are very good. We'v had a good time!
Veronica
We had a lovely peaceful stay at the cottage . The key safe check in was great . We found the cottage comfortable and well maintained . The rural location of the cottage was so tranquil . The cleanliness of the property was excellent.
Catherine
The cottage was very cold on arrival. We have never stayed in a cottage where we had no control over the heating. We lit the fire but the rest of the house was cold. We contacted the owner who said they would extend the heating period which improved everything for the rest of the week. After the first night it was perfect. Everything else was absolutely brilliant except for the oven and grill in the kitchen, we love to cook. Personally we think the cooker needs replacing, very scratched hob and the ovengrill wasn't clean. Otherwise we have had a fabulous holiday, very comfortable bed, brilliant shower, bright and light lounge and brilliant patio with fabulous long distance views. We will definitely booking again next year.
Samantha
Welcoming and spotlessly clean cottage. Friendly owner. Beautiful location with walks from the door. Lots of birds around Stars was fab. I would book again for sure No negatives
This is a lovingly restored former farm workers cottage with tons of character and all the modern conveniences. Located in the heart of the Shropshire hills it is the ideal base to explore an often overlooked part of England. Lots to do in the area and the log fire in the evening is the icing on the cake. Highly recommended. We had a great week here.
Great cottage. Everything we needed was provided. Ideal for a quiet holiday or busier if you choose to go out and about.
We had a lovely stay in Wilstone Cottage. It was even better than the photos suggested. Wonderful views. Spacious and comfortable bedrooms. Lovely character reception rooms. We will definitely be coming again
Very comfortable cottage in a rural setting with good access to local walks. Helpful and friendly owners. Definitely recommend
Michael
Excellent cottage. Everything we hoped for. Quiet, away from it all, lovely village, comfortable. Really good cottage.
We had a wonderful weekend at Wilstone Cottage as a group of 6 celebrating our 40th birthdays. The cottage is probably nicer in real life than the photos very clean and comfortable. The old doors and beams add a lot of character but make sure you pay attention to the 'mind your head' signs we had a few bumps on the head going up the stairs! We had amazing weather so the immaculate lawn and outside space was brilliant and the views were stunning. We were extremely lucky to see the Northern Lights which made our stay very special and I'm sure the peaceful surrounds and lack of light pollution helped us take full advantage. The surrounding area is so beautiful it felt a bit like the Cotswolds without paying the prices. Local village pub The Royal Oak is a short walk from the house and the staff were really welcoming. Great service and lovely food. The owner of Wilstone Cottage was super helpful and great at communicating including helping with recommending a walk etc. It was lovely to arrive to some flowers and cookies left by the owner as well. A memorable and very comfortable stay.
Christopher
Just a lovely property, beautiful views from all aspects. Very comfortable, had all our requirements . wood burner made the cottage very cosy. Very interesting area.
Another wonderful trip by our walking group to the cosy and comfortable Wilstone Cottage, a perfect location for exploring the Shropshire Hills, and a delight to return to after a day out, whatever the weather.
Lovely property in great location for walking. Would recommend a break here. Clean, warm, comfortable and beautifully kept. Well stocked crockery, cutlery and utensils. Nice to have extra crockery and cutlery so able to use dish washer and still have spares to use. Thank you Rhiann
Christine
The cottage was lovely but we were cold and there were no instructions on how to turn the heating on for longer and there was only one fire lighter and no kindling for the fire, which was disappointing. Having to depart at 10am Sunday morning was far too early and we all felt very rushed. The cake was a nice touch that we all enjoyed.
Wonderful cottage. Very spacious, lovely and warm, great location with the pub just down the lane and very close to Church Stretton for walking and shops. Owner has clearly thought of all the little things needed to provide a home from home and touches like fresh flowers, maps, logs and a huge cake were greatly appreciated. Only improvement I could suggest would be a hair dryer and outside tap to hose down our very muddy boots!
We found Wilstone Cottage to be well equipped, characterful, providing peace and comfort. It's well located for walking and visiting all parts of Shropshire and the owners were never far away if there was a problem. Would I stay here again, yes.
Carissa
We had a lovely weeklong stay at Wilstone cottage. It is a charming property and we felt most welcome and comfortable. We loved being able to go on hikes and walks straight from the front door and particularly enjoyed the beautiful dining room where we spent lots of time playing games and eating together.
Gorgeous views from every window! Cottage was spacious and comfortable. Incredibly quiet and peaceful I am writing this in my home city, with a constant hum of traffic audible...sigh! Appreciated the care of the owner who called in to check all was well and whether we needed to have the central heating on as it had turned unexpectedly chilly.
Christine
We really enjoyed our week at Wilstone Cottage. Everything was very clean and well equipped. All of us especially enjoyed the Victoria sponge cake.thank you for that. Gorgeous views from the cottage, of the surrounding hills.
Lovely house and surrounding area. My only suggestion would be that in our experience milk and butter at least are normally in the fridge on arrival at a holiday rental. It would be especially helpful to find it at Wilstone cottage too, being that the location is so remote. I understand the owner had literally just had a baby so maybe it was an oversight this time.
Elizabeth
Wonderful stay in this very comfortable cottage, very warm and cosy with all the facilities you will need . The views are spectacular ! We will absolutely be back
Denise
The most amazing view from all windows. The property is set in the most idyllic area. The property is comfortable and cozy warm. Very well equipped and maintained. We only wish we had longer to stay there. So pretty. Thank you
Excellent stay. Very comfortable and really good for a family break. Extremely clean and welcoming cookies, daffodils and eggs were a lovely touch. Thank you
A wonderfully warm, spacious, light and comfortable cottage in a fantastic location with lovely views and fine walking straight from the door. With 6 adults in our group the facilities and space were excellent, and after a days walking in the beautiful Shropshire hills it was always a pleasure to return to the welcoming comfort of the cottage. We all agreed a return visit would be a must.
Very nice property, clean and well equipped. Nice touch with the welcome biscuits and eggs. Thank you,
