Discover why this cottage is ideal for different types of visitors

For Families
Children have access to a swimming pool and tennis court with equipment provided. The extensive private grounds offer plenty of space for outdoor games and exploration. The large family room provides indoor entertainment space for board games and activities. However, reviews note the children's play area needs updating with some equipment missing or broken. The peaceful countryside location offers fresh air and freedom to run around safely.
For Couples
The Onibury is not ideally suited for couples as it's designed for larger groups sleeping up to 13 guests. The property lacks intimate spaces and romantic features that couples typically prefer. No hot tub is available for relaxation. The shared facilities including the pool and tennis court are geared towards family groups rather than romantic getaways. Couples would find better suited accommodation in smaller properties.
Pet Friendly
The Onibury does not accept pets. This is a strict no-pets policy throughout the property. Dogs and other animals are not permitted to stay. The policy helps maintain standards for guests with allergies and keeps the shared facilities clean. If you're travelling with pets, you'll need to find alternative accommodation in Shropshire that welcomes animals. Several other properties in the area do accept dogs.

The Onibury Reviews

Michelle
3 generations of a family stayed in omnibury cottage for 7 nights in august. Clear instructions provided by sykes prior to arriving. Payment taken on dates stated. Pros accommodation comfy, all beds made up on our arrival & enough storagewardrobe space for all the guests Lovely sociable kitchen which allowed family to gather for meals & games. Good size fridge & freezer in cottage and having 2 dishwashers was very useful. Plenty of crockery & utensils available Although we stayed in august we unfortunately experienced coldrainy weather which meant the cottage was at times quite cold. This was mentioned to the house manager who immediately granted us access to the boiler which made all the difference. Tennis court was a nice bonus with bats & balls provided Pool lovely size & good temperature. Booking system quite easy to use although as its a shared facility it does rely on the guests in the other cottages using it fairly Cons only one washing machine to serve 3 cottages which can potentially house 39 people. No tumble dryer either which would of been useful as only other method of drying available was a single clothes maiden Childrens play area in need of upgrade. Pictures on website no longer reflect the facilities that are available. There was no trampoline on site, the goalkeeping net was not fit for purpose, the table tennis bats were broken & the pool table was out of service. Overall the omnibury was a great base for our holiday & we have all left with fond memories of our time there.
We stay at the Onibury and though we had a slight problem with the heating. This was quickly sorted by Sharon who was very helpful. The key areas appeared to be clean. Kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. However in the main living area. Up in the apex there were lots of large cobwebs on the beams and window. Which had clearly been there for a long time. I know they might be difficult to reach but you can get extending poles. Also we found chocolates on the floor behind a chairs in the middle living room. That being said our family enjoyed our stay very much. Mainly due to the large well equipped family room were we spent the evenings all together.
On arrival at the onnibury cottage someelse was already in the property. Went to see the owner ? Double booking. She then showed us to The Park property which we said was ok so the other people in the onnibury neednt Move out although they said they were booked into it but had no paperwork to prove this!! We were about to move our things into The Park when the owner said we couldnt go into that and showed us to The Walton. We had a look and said ok as we didnt have much choice! This didnt start our holiday very well. We were then very apprehensive in case someone else came and said they were booked in.Not at all sure what happened I think the people who were in the onnibury should have been in The Walton. Just one more thing the booking for the Tennis and swimming pool was very confusing. The sheets that you had to put your name on werent clear. Which sheet was which. No dates on them to say whether it was last weeks sheet or not. The upset with the booking was upsetting and stressful. The people that were in the onnibury were a Mr & Mrs Hill but I dont think they booked the property thru Sykes cottages.
Catherine
The only downside is that they were rebuilding a new access road and helicopter landing pad in the field next to the cottage and the workmen did start quite early so a little more noise than we expected in the countryside , but the workmen were very polite and nice.
The location and sporting facilities were excellent, but where was the trampoline which was shown in the promotional material! ? Also, being a little bit picky the bedrooms were cramped and there was a distinct lack of clothing storage space . Also, where there was no shower the baths were too small for any practical use,at least by a mature adult !! The in house guide was poor, lacking any really useful information regarding local facilities such as shops, banks, pubs etc etc!,and especially relating to the washing facilities. How to recycle waste was not clear. We learnt that waste is collected on a biweekly basis, which is inadequate for the number of people on site.
