Yr Hen Felin Reviews

Second time visiting this place. Absolutely love the peace and quiet. The property and grounds are lovely especially with the stream running through the grounds. Amazing place to relax and unwind.
Great little gem nestled away in the middle of nowhere, its just what I wanted for my wifes 30th, the kids loved waking up to pheasants walking around property gardens minding there own business, couldnt thank Catherine the owner enough for making us feel so welcome.
Beautiful place in a lovely area of Wales. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning. The property was great, Catherine met us and showed so what was what, she was lovely and very helpful. There was everything we needed and would recommend to anyone who needs a quiet and peaceful holiday away to visit this property.
We stayed 2 weeks at Yr Hen Felin cottage. What an amazing place! The grounds are stunning. Kids lived playing in the stream. 2 weeks of relaxation and escapism from our busy lives. As you would expect being so remote we enjoyed a family digital detox as no phone signal and intermittent WiFi. Local village is very friendly and the nearby lake is a must. Catherine was a perfect host and we are currently enjoying the local honey she gave us as a gift. Thank you to Catherine and family we will be back. Amy, Tim, Harper & India
The house needs a good clean , spiders and cobwebs are everywhere. There is an issue with flies, open any window or door and there are flies everywhere. Possibly an idea to put some mesh over the windows so they could be opened without letting the flies in? Spent evenings killing them so we could sleep .Bathroom needs to be updated & given a really good scrub .Door to bedroom does not shut properly, woke up to a toad and slugs under the bed . However the grounds are absolutely amazing , & its lovely to sit in the garden & listen to the stream.
We absolutely loved our stay at yr hen felin. The cottage was beautiful and the plot of land it is on is perfect for relaxing and letting the dog play
The cottage and surroundings were all you could wish for . The property is on three floors so you need to be mobile . I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a perfect peaceful get away in a tranquil setting.

Lovely setting, rustic charm although the bbq area could do with a little update. We really enjoyed our stay
This cottagemill, was absolutely beautiful,a little rustic maybe but clean and ... This cottagemill, was absolutely beautiful,a little rustic maybe but clean and comfortable A few small blemishes maintenance wise, but overall above VFM the area the grounds were impeccable a short journey into town, half an hour to Lake Vyrnwy which is brilliant So peaceful, lots of animal and bird life which we loved even trout in the stream which runs through it Our dog had the freedom which he loved and was very content Our host Cath met us on the first day and was so friendly thank you Catherine lovely cottage in a beautiful place and the weather was exceptional which was a bonus
Lovely owner and great little cottage. Clean and cosy with great facilities . Does not have a washing machine so just plan for that and you will not be disappointed . Its accessible down a dirt lane but will be fine for all but the lowest of cars . You couldnt ask for a better location and even a little welcome of biscuits and milk in the fridge on arrival . Book with confidence.
The property itself is in a great location however could do with some tlc The trees on the approach could do with a trim they are quiet wide to the approach, coupled with this the approach isnt well lit Inside the property is spacious however we could not get the TV to work and used our own Netflix but the WiFi wasnt the best General smell inside not sure what Light in the bathroom flickered like crazy maybe needs a new bulb Not overly friendly for mobility Lack of instructions in the property as to what to do and how things work. Did find it difficult to communicate as there was little or no mobile signal
Secluded location which is nice, there are decent facilities in the village, good location for travelling, we spent a day visiting Llandudno which is not too far away. Amenities in the house are not too bad however, wifi is so slow 1.5mb that using the internet is very challenging. The TV setup is very poor, sky remote is so old the icons on each button have completely worn away, a new one costs around 10. Worst of all is that there is no information booklet with instructions how to deal with the heating, waste disposal or general usage information. Not withstanding these issues we had a good stay and enjoyed the area.

We had a lovely stay at the cottage, although remote its easy to find and lots to do in the area. . the cottage is stunning and the stream was great to play in, the grounds were well maintained and the dog couldnt get out. Inside was everything you needed, there is no washing machine, we didnt mind this. Bedding and towels provided, bath towel not sheet so you may want to take your own. Lovely Welsh cakes on arrival and milk in the fridge, thank you. Also tea towels, a few tea bags and dishwasher tablets. The only slight negative is the cottage needs a good deep clean, its not dirty its just not quite up to high standards.. when we first arrived it smelt a little musty but that was gone by the end of the week. I wouldnt want to stay in winter months because of this, also no fire, which didnt bother us in summer obviously.. would I stay again? Yes! The location was beautiful and had everything needed for a break away bring fly spray thank you for a lovely stay.

What a great stay, in the middle of beautiful surroindings. Lovely owners, and a great garden with our private stream. We had an amazing stay!
Rebecca
Weve just got back from a lovely weekend at The Old Mill the scenery is beautiful and the stream running through the garden is great! The beds are comfortable. Only downfall is there isnt a washer iknow you dont go away to do washing but its always handy to have. 10minute drive into the nearest village.

We had a wonderful week at Yr Hen Felin and we were lucky enough to have the most gorgeous weather while we were there. Plenty of walks to do with our dog, which were not too far away by car and we could easily walk from the doorstep for a dog toilet break in the evening! The garden with the stream running through was absolutely gorgeous and we spent a lot of time out there when we werent out exploring. The only thing we would mention is the cottage needed a really good clean, lots of cobwebs everywhere, the kitchenware including the fridge werent clean and neither was the bathroom. As we spent most of our time outside, its didnt bother us too much but I think it would have if the weather had been poor and more time spent in the cottage.
I had a lovely weekend here just me and my dog Sam. If youre looking for somewhere quiet and secluded then I would definitely recommend this place. Catherine was very welcoming and I couldnt be happier with how the holiday went. I will definitely be back again.
I wasnt going to leave a review for this cottage because I believe that if you havent got anything good to say then you should probably say nothing and just not return to that property HOWEVER after being home for a week I was today sent a complaint via Sykes from the owner complaining of a hole in a blanket that I should pay for because it was damaged by my dog. So, heres my honest review of the property. We were met by the owner of the cottage on the evening of our arrival who showed us around. She apologised about the frayed rug which she said that the previous peoples dog had destroyed. She also complained about people not recycling and we assured her that we would recycle all our waste. She left and the we all commented how unnecessary it was to talk about the last person but we thought nothing more of it. Next we unpacked. There were 4 coat hangers between the two bedrooms but again, that wasnt an issue because we could use the drawers, only half the drawers were filled with blankets so not brilliant on storage space but again, that was a minor issue. The two bedrooms were small but comfortable and we had no complaints with the beds. The bathroom was on the ground floor and smelled of stale urine, a smell which remained throughout the holiday. The lock on the bathroom door was broken and although another one had been fitted, it had been fitted incorrectly and so we couldnt lock the bathroom door throughout our stay. The next floor up was the kitchendining room which, to be fair, was very nice. The fridge however smelled so much that we had to clean it before we put our food away. The cold water from the tap came out hot and had to be run for a while until it was cold and then tasted very unpleasant so we bought bottled water to drink for the rest of our stay. On day 4, my daughter was cleaning her teeth in the bathroom when an orange coloured worm type insect came out of the cold water tap so we also cleaned our teeth with the bottled water after that. The top floor was the living room which we also found to be a lovely room. We did find half eaten brownies on the window sill and cobwebs throughout the cottage. The garden to be fair, was beautiful and we couldnt have asked for better surroundings. As I said, I would not have written this review had I not received a complaint about a hole in a blanket that we hadnt even used and that hole was blamed on the dog. I have a labrador who walks around with a soft toy in his mouth and doesnt destroy anything. The blanket was folded on the first night and not used as the cottage was warm enough to just use a duvet and the dog hadnt been on the bed anyway. I now doubt the accusations she made about the previous holiday maker and their dog. We did have a very lovely break, travelling around North Wales and seeing some lovely sights though I would not return to this property.
Alison
The property is lovely. Issues on some aspects of the cleanliness mop was unhygienic bought a new one. Bathroom flooded when shower was used. Owners should put a washing machine in the property with a clothes dryer outside. Grandchildren loved playing in the grounds and doing poo sticks in the stream. Received a visit from a sheep, amazing watching the pheasants and other birds.
Beautiful property and wonderful host, perfect little place to get away from it all.
Inderjit
The cottage provided an enchanting and tranquil retreat, making my stay truly wonderful and peaceful. The stunning natural surroundings added to the overall memorable experience.
Alison
Lovely property, idyllic setting, private and perfect for the dog. Very friendly owners. Looking forward to returning.
Kayleigh
What a wonderful stay we had. Myself and my partner work in the NHS and we both needed a relaxing holiday with zero plans, just the perfect destination. We got both. This was also our first holiday with our Pupper Endor. The whole place and area around were just perfection. We did get visits by the locals sheep but they just added to trip. We loved the set up of the house and all needed amenities. The stream was so relaxing to hear. We have shown everyone the photos and hope they get the chance to book here.
Leslie
Best property we've ever rented . Fantastic property, Fantastic site.Fantastic peaceful Setting.Fantastic Building.Nice helpful owners. Thanks for the memory.
Jennifer
Lovely property with everything we needed for our short break. Beautiful property in a lovely location. The garden is amazing and our children and dog loved the river. We even had a pint of milk and some biscuits left for us by the owner which was a lovely touch. We would definitely book this property again.
Absolutely loved staying here, the house is beautiful the garden amazing. I can not fault the house the owner or anything else about our stay.
Vishal
This property is a well maintained luxurious stay at the countryside. We got exactly what we came for.. had a wonderfully calm and relaxing experience in the nature. The owner, Catherine is very kind and helped us personally since it is a remotely located place and its difficult to reach there. Will definitely love to visit again. Highly recommended for a perfect getaway in the nature from the busy life.
Perfect place to rewind after busy city life. We really enjoyed our Easter brake at the old Mills.
Bit of a late review as we stayed a few weeks ago now Stayed for short weekend break, property was lovely & warm on arrival & had everything we needed as a family. Kids loved playing in the stream & football with the farm sheepdog.
Lovely location, delightful holiday property. Could not fault the experience. The owner was delightful and made sure we had everything needed. The property has everything you would need for a weekend away. Would certainly book again.
Beautiful property in a beautiful location. Catherine was warm and welcoming. Would definitely book again!
Absolutely stunning property and the owners were so kind and courteous. My daughter was very happy with the pink heart bedding on the too bunk! thank you.
Kathrine
The nearby town is really nice, a few pubs, convenience shop, nice village to walk round. Could only really stay though for a few days not alot to do there really quiet. The cottage is in a very peaceful spot, very nice grounds, ideal for our dog he could have a good run. I think some outdoor lighting would be good very dark at night would of been nice to look out of a night and still see the grounds. The cottage is very old and quirky looking. The kitchen was a good size, good facilities, nice outlook on to the grounds. Good size dining area especially for a family. The lounge is upstairs, very cosy. The tv was a bit hit and miss sometimes no signal but we managed. The bedrooms and bathroom are downstairs again very cosy and comfortable. The bathroom was always full of bugs but didnt bother me to much. Outside is a table and chairs and a bbq would be lovely in the summer. We would stay as great for the dog he had plenty of space to play!
Shahzad
Generally happy, comfortable and pleasant stay. Nice grounds and querky cottage in a positive way
3 days of pure peace and quiet. A quaint cottage in beautiful surroundings, the outside area is huge with a cute stream running through it. It was spotlessly clean and tidy with everything needed for a relaxing stay. Catherine was really lovely and the welsh cakes left for us on arrival was a lovely gesture, thank you. The internet on tv in the evening was a bit hit and miss but we managed. There are some amazing places to visit quite close by and little village itself has a few nice shops and a few stalls selling homemade items. If the lady selling home made samosas and onion bhaji is there buy some theyre gorgeous. A hidden gem in a beautiful part of Wales. I would definately go back there.
A beautiful location, peaceful and relaxing. The Old Mill is a quirky different place to stay within its own beautiful grounds. It has everything you need. Comfortable and bright. Would definitely return.
Stephen
This property and location were ideal for our holiday. The property and grounds alone provided the peace and stunning surrounds we sought. There were pleasant lane walks, virtually traffic free, in the immediate surrounds and abundant things to do a bit further afield we particularly enjoyed the Llanfair C to Welshpool light railway.
Andrew
Lovely and quiet and comfortable
