High Grove Reviews

A fabulous and refreshing stay at High Grove, it was our fourth visit and we will be back. Everything was great as usual. There was a planned power cut one day we were there and Sarah kept us up to date which was really helpful.
Michaela
The Old Barn is very comfortable, extremely clean & all needs are catered for. Sarah the host is charming, helpful but not intrusive. The location is lovely but if you don't enjoy driving along narrow lanes you might find it challenging. It's about a 10 minute drive to Ludlow & slightly less to the A49 which gets you to Shrewsbury or Hereford. I would certainly stay here again as it's ideally located for walking the Clee Hills & Ludlow which is a lovely town with interesting shops, a Castle & church
Kathryn
We spent a very comfortable and relaxing week at High Grove. Everything we needed was at hand, the view we looked out on was beautiful and the towns in the area had plenty for us to explore. Would highly recommended this accommodation.
This is one of the cleanest cottages we have stayed in with Sykes cant fault it. . Everything you wont and more. Lovely cake on arrival ,dogs adorable. Only complaint IF i had on is directions could be better, Do uses your satnav you will find it better.
The cottage was furnished to a very high standard in a lovely peaceful setting. It was a relaxing place with stunning scenery and the owner was kind and friendly.
Beautiful annexe in the countryside. If you want peace and tranquility, then this is the place to go. Accommodation was to a high specification. And Brodie the dog was very friendly and fun to watch. Sarah was an excellent host.
Richard
The setting was lovely very beautiful and quiet but without feeling isolated. Our host was available and friendly but never invasive. It was one of the bestequipped cottages we have stayed in, as well as being very comfortable and clean. It would be wise to follow directions from Ludlow due to narrow country roads.
Kathleen
Overall the property was comfortable, well equipped and clean and we had a nice stay It. Is a little way out of Ludlow, up a fairly narrow road which didn't bother us but might some folks. The ceilings are rather low in places especially upstairs which is tricky if you are tall.
A charming, well equipped, cottage, perfect for a couple. The views are delightful and the area is full of places to explore.
Annette
A lovely cottage in a beautiful spot. The owner was welcoming and the cake waiting for us on arrival was delicious! Would hightly recommend and return
Another very enjoyable stay here, our fourth. Clean, comfortable, well equipped and a lovely peaceful location. Plenty to see and do all close at hand so minimal travelling needed. Highly recommended.
A delightful stay in the depths of the wonderful Shropshire countryside.
Denise
Beautiful welcoming holiday cottage in a lovely quiet location with gorgeous views. Friendly owner nearby if needed. Everything has been provided to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay. Convenient for visiting local market towns and enjoying nearby walks. We were very fortunate with the weather which was an extra bonus and hope to return again to this lovely part of Shropshire
Very peaceful cosy converted barn. Beautiful views of countryside from the comfort of the sofa. Owner lives in property next door so available if any issues which there werent. Lovely cake, fresh flowers and milk in fridge as a welcome. The owners two dogs greeted us daily and were very friendly. Ideal spot to retreat and relax.
This was our second visit. Its a lovely location, it is very comfortable and has a fabulously equipped kitchen.
Great stay and great host
Andrew
Really enjoyed our stay lovely cosy cottage in a lovely setting
A comfortable cottage with all that you could require. Spectacular views and a friendly hostess.
Christine
Lovely, cosy, warm cottage in a tranquil setting. It was equipped with everything needed for our stay. Natural bedding was a welcome change to synthetic. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend High Grove.
Absolutely wonderful cottage, the best equipped we have ever stayed in. Also, it is so comfortable and pleasant with lovely views and surrounded by beautiful countryside. The only sounds we heard were the calls of the birds. We would recommend it as a place of peace and relaxation and yet it is so near to Ludlow and all its charm and history.
Stephen
If you're looking walkable access to a pubshop, this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is very much the place for you. You will need a car to stay here unless you do not plan to venture out. Only a few miles from Ludlow, but you are very much in the country. Apart from the odd passing car or plane overhead, all you hear are animals or the breeze. Great view over the paddock towards the hills never tired of looking at it. The property is comfortable, warm and wellequipped with a patio area which catches the sun in the evening. Wifi was very good, considering the isolated location. The bedroom is built into the roof, so watch out for trusses and don't bang your head. Be aware that you may be greeted by a large barking dog. Don't worry, he and his friend are actually very friendly. The owner lives next door, but makes a point of not being intrusive, whilst being available if required. We arrived to find a homemade cake waiting for us happy days! We really enjoyed this property and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for a quiet retreat.
We had a delightful stay! It was very welcoming and homey!
Our third stay here in a lovely tranquil setting, very comfortable and well equipped accommodation. Highly recommended.
Ifanna

The owner of the property is very nice and accommodating . The 4 stars are just for the long narrow windy roads. My car struggled in places.
It was perfect for me.
We only had 3 nights here over New Year but we found the accommodation to be very clean and comfortable. The location is very remote but ideal for a relaxing and peaceful break. We were welcomed with a lovely fruit cake, fresh flowers and a pint of milk which was lovely. Would be happy to recommend this cottage to anyone.
We have just spent a lovely Christmas at Highgrove. The accommodation was warm and comfortable, and Sarah was the perfect hostess. She kindly left us cake, fresh flowers and a very welcome bottle of red!The surrounding area is very picturesque, and the peace and quiet was something we appreciated . Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Highgrove to anyone wanting a get away from it all holiday.
Christopher
It was lovely and peaceful. . The owner is very friendly. The dogs are lovely as well as the horses...Felt very comfortable here.
A lovely comfortable cottage, just as described, warm welcome & very friendly & helpful owner. Cottage contained everything & more that was needed to have a lovely break. Certainly one to return to.
High Grove is a lovely property in a very peaceful setting. I felt at home as soon as I walked in. The environment was safe and secure factors that are important to me as a person travelling alone. I hope to return again, probably for a longer period so that I can carry on exploring.
Robert
Lovely, comfortable cottage with really thoughtful little touches left by the owner such as fresh flowers, milk and a delicious home made cake!
Gordon

Our second very enjoyable stay here. Accommodation is clean, comfortable and well equipped. A lovely quiet peaceful location but still well located for exploring the area. Sarah the owner is friendly and helpful but never obtrusive the perfect balance when you have the escaped daily routine for a few days. Home made cake on welcome tray much appreciated! Would revisit without hesitation and highly recommended.
Katrina
This is the best holiday I've ever had! The property was fantastic and the location was beautiful! There is a Sainsburys nearby along with a fantastic farm shop. The dogs are wonderful and there are horses and sheep along with chickens but they don't just roam around ready to peck you! The host is lovely and so very kind. She will leave you be and is wonderfully helpful if you want to have a chat.
When we booked this property it was under the proviso that there were lots of country walks in the immediate area. There are, but they are on the country lanes there were very few public footpaths to walk along away from the lanes. All the gated areas off the country lanes were farmers fields with private property signs displayed. You had to drive to do any proper walking. This was very disappointing to us. Also we did not find the owner particularly friendly. She was around when we arrived and on the day of leaving she never came to say goodbye. We thought this was very rude as the owners of the last cottage we booked with yourselves were extremely friendly indeed. Also to leave one toilet roll for the guests is downright mean just as well we bring plenty with us. We wont be going back.
Alison
Our stay was amazing, such a lovely relaxing place to stay , the hostess is very welcoming would recommend to everyone .
Ger-jan
