The Big Dingle Reviews

This property was absolutely perfect for our extended family over Christmas. It seems as if every detail had been considered.. The house was prettily done out for Christmas with plenty of decorations and two trees in the main lounge and also in the dining room. The Kitchen has two ovens and a warming drawer It also has two fridges and a separate freezer. The gasfired hob was large perfect for our needs. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and the bedrooms were spacious. There are numerous living areas with plentiful comfortable sofas. There are two wood burners one in the Snug and one in the dining area. I would say that this was as near as perfect for our needs as could be imagined. All in the backdrop of the beautiful Shropshire hills.
Our second time staying there but with different friends. They were all very impressed with the high standardspec. Well equipped with kitchen utensils and cooking utensils. No need to take tea towels, fairy liquid and cleaning things, all provided. Plenty of room for relaxation. Easy access and departure arrangement. Enjoyed the welcome muffins.

Loved our stay at the big dingle we were a group of 6. Plenty of room, lovely scenery, facilities fine lots of walks in the area,we had a very nice meal at the pound inn, would definitely recommend.
The big dingle is a lovely place to stay I had a lovely week catching up with old friends and had some lovely walks in lovely countryside. The accommodation is super and would certainly come again sometime.

A fabulous house so well equipped and spacious. Ideal for a family meet up. Cot and highchair were both good quality and top stair gate a welcome idea at night with 5 littleones! The snug with its toy box and tv kept the children happy and the large lounge a restful evening refuge for the adultswith a glass of wine when children in bed. The large family kitchen was excellent for meals and together time. The garden was amazing. The children were occupied playing on the swings or garden games and hide and seek and generally running about. The weather was so good we were able to use the big garden tables to all sit round and eat our evening meal outside. The whole house was beyond our expectations. Traffic noise on A49 a bit intrusive but the children have all said can we come back! A superb house. Plenty of car parking we had 3 big estate cars and the ability to close the drive gates kept all secure inside. Thank you the house and garden really made the holiday.

Big Dingle was great. Had everything you could want in a holiday home. The garden was lovely. Easy to find. Great WiFi. Clean and comfortable.
This was the perfect property for a large family holiday. Plenty of room, well equipped and well placed for visiting attractions in Shropshire. We had a lovely time, and having the property as our base was perfect.
Perfect property. Loved every minute of our holiday. Good location for visiting nearby towns and villages. Property was beautifully furnished and very well equipped. Would definitely return.

Second time here. The exterior of the house and driveway was looking unkempt this time. The house interior was as we remembered it. The ensuite bathroom had an initial bad drain smell but was rectified by running the water and flushing the toilet a few times. We suspect it was a build up in the pipes if the property hadn't been used for a little while. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay both in the property and the surrounding area. Had an issue with the downstairs toilet which we reported but was not fixed during our stay.

Wow, what an amazing stay we had at this property! !! Everything was thought about, comfortable, wholesome and this created a place that we were able to relax and unwind in. Every person that joined me on the stay was in awe of the house, space within it and how it made them feel. Now that are asking when Im booking to go back!!! The hosts were attentive, helpful and kind. I would definitely recommend this property to others and I am looking forward to coming back. Thank you
We stayed at the Big Dingle as a family of 8 ranging in age from 1780 and we all absolutely loved it. Beautifully clean and well presented, the rooms are large and spacious and very well equipped with everything you could need. The welcome muffins were delicious and the teenagers appreciated the x box and sky movies. The only suggestion we could offer is to take the hive box away as my brother in law spent far too long trying to fix it and inserting new batteries before your lovely cleaner told us that it didnt work
Elizabeth
We met as a family to celebrate an early Christmas and The Big Dingle was perfect for this. The house is like a tardis and had everything we needed to make Christmas dinner. All the rooms were well appointed. We would definitely recommend and also stay again.
Accommodation was clean well equipped and spacious with all essentials you need for a break away. The house is on a main road and there is a rail way line nearby so if you are not used to noise would be an issue.
Christine
A great place for our family reunion. Plenty of space, well equipped kitchen and lovely garden. Beds comfy and good shower. Shame the awning didn't work as it was so sunny! Only thing I would change would be a few more toilet rolls please! Thanks.
What a fabulous place! Comfy beds, lovely bedrooms, nice clean bathrooms with amazing powerful showers! Good WiFi service throughout property. TVs everywhere, although we only really used the one in the main lounge. In addition to huge well equipped kitchen, there were 2 lounges big and small and a conservatory where you could choose to sit and relax as well as the beautiful 'park' like garden. Definitely would recommend. Plenty to do in the area too.
Beautiful cottage, really spacious and perfect for our family gathering. The garden was great for grandkids to play. The owners were v helpful, providing replacement sheets after the baby was sick. Great location
We had a wonderful week at the Dingle house . The house fitted us perfectly, It's well equipped and the beds and bedding are comfortable. We had an issue with the hot water which the owner responded to in very quick time. The garden is lovely and we made best use of it . Its a pity that the awning wasn't currently working and we hope that will be repaired in time for our next visit
Some cushions for the kitchen chairs would be comfortable.
Sajida
My stay at the Dingle was amazing and I would definitely recommend! Everything was clean and tidy and the cottage itself was super cosy, spacious and homely. Very happy with my stay and I hope to visit again
This property is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Absolutely perfect for a family group with some beautiful walks right on the doorstep. Would highly recommend.
A wonderful house and very spacious, extremely comfortable beds. Very central for discovering Shropshire. Would definitely stay again
The Big Dingle was a great place for our family of eight to get together, coming from Stockport and Coventry. It is very spacious and was clean and tidy. However the twin bedroom was quite cramped for two adults but acceptable for our short, three night stay. The sun room is lovely when the sun is shining, not being centrally heated, there is a plug in radiator it has a lovely aspect overlooking the lawned garden which is edged with trees. Church Stretton is a lovely village within beautiful countryside it has cafs, a deli, gift, antique and charity shops. We particularly enjoyed drinking Slumbering Monk beer in The kings Arms! Lunch in Jemimas was delicious as was the evening meal at the Sawaddee Thai restaurant. The weather was wet so we appreciated the choice of eateries. The rain was so heavy on our leaving day we encountered several floods on the roads. All in all I would recommend The Big Dingle as a great place to stay. Thank you.
This was our second time at the Big Dingle and we werent disappointed. Theres plenty of space around the house for everyone to escape each other. The kitchen is a beautiful space and the dining table is ideal for those family dinner times. The large garden and swings are perfect for the kids and kept them entertained for hours. If you like walking there are plenty of local walks that can be done straight from the house and the local pub is perfect for that post walk pint or the Bacon cheesy BBQ fries are kids favourite.
I think the property could have been much cleaner. It was superficially clean. But the skirting boards were very dirty as were the front of the kitchen cupboards and kickboards. In particular the downstairs cloakroom was not clean. Unfortunately sitting on the toilet you could see the underside of the urinal which wasnt good. The skirting board, once you closed the door from the inside also wasnt nice. I understand its a big place. And overall the property was lovely. Just a bit more deep cleaning please.
We had a great time at this spacious property. It is very comfortable and well equipped. Ideal for a larger group with two sitting rooms and a conservatory to relax in. Ideally situated for Ludlow and Shrewsbury.
A spacious, well appointed house with a beautiful garden in a lovely part of Shropshire. Also Great value. The owner has put a great deal of effort into ensuring guests' comfort with so many thoughtful touches too many to mention which were very much appreciated. I would not hesitate to recommend this property. Its as perfect as you will find anywhere. An absolute gem. Thank you so much
We had a great holiday and the property had everything we needed for two families of 4 and ample space. The furniture was very comfortable, especially the beds. The spectacular gardens were an added treat. We would definitely come again.
We all had an incredible weekend at the big dingle, thank you so much for everything, including the small thoughtful details like the fresh muffins on the kitchen counter when we arrived. The property is so spacious, beautiful and clean and is located in such a pretty area. We easily walked to the local pub, and also did a long walk in carding mill valley when the sun was out. Also, the bed in the master bedroom was unbelievably comfy! I would definitely book this place again. Thanks again! Linzi
Wow, wow and wow! We booked the Dingle for my mums 80th Birthday, the photos on the Sykes website are very accurate. The house was amazing. Anything we needed was provided from carafes to cafetieres. All the TVs were smart, wonderful bedding, luxurious towels and a well equipped kitchen perfect for large parties. The house is set in a beautiful location.
Kenneth
Excellent for a family gathering of eight, Spacious and with two lounges if someone got tired of Shaun the Sheep on BBC i player you could go to the other one. The property was perfect for our needs and a minor defect was reported and fixed promptly. The location was good it was easy to get to Church Stretton and all the local hills and walks. We were fortunate in that we did not need to use many of the wet weather ie. indoor attractions that were within driving distance.
We had an absolutely fantastic stay! There were 6 adults and 2 toddlers and the house was just perfect for a big family holiday! We celebrated both a 40th birthday and NYE and are looking forward to coming back again for another visit.
Outstanding place to enjoy Christmas,as soon as you walked in you you felt at ... Outstanding place to enjoy Christmas,as soon as you walked in you you felt at home , we as a family with two little children who had a great time , the Dingle is so spacious and the garden is great , Recommend the Dingle to anyone
Stephen
We were thrilled with the quality of the facility and the amenities. There was immediate friendly support via telephone which was not required just to check on extra wood and say thank you The house is in a wonderful location We plan to return
Amazing property, brilliant facilities, the welcome pack was a nice touch and the milk! very pleased with our stay we all had a lovely time, the children's equipment was well though of and makes a nice change to have everything you need and the massive toy box was a useful and pleasant surprise for us and our two boys ! definitely will be back sometime in the future!
This house is fantastic, spacious and very comfortable. Kitchen and utility room has everything needed for a great stay. Including log burner and huge dining table, with French doors leading out on to the garden. All 4 bedrooms are furnished brilliantly and all beds were very comfortable with luxurious bedding. All bedrooms have smart TVs. The main bedroom has en suite bathroom with bath and walk in shower. 3 reception rooms including a lovely conservatory overlooking the wonderful landscaped gardens. Would definitely return. Thanks for a great stay
Wow what a place. We were a little concerned on arrival as it's very close to the A49. However, needn't have worried! A huge home just me and my wife on this occasion and great double glazing. Even sitting in the garden, though, was relatively quiet because of the very thoughtful garden design. The kitchen was well stocked with all the equipment you could possibly need even for a very lengthy stay. The bedroom linen was good quality and the beds were very comfortable. It's in a great location and just minutes away from the beautiful village of Church Stretton. As an aside it has one of the best Barbour stockists in the area Peppers and run by one of the nicest couples you could ever hope to meet. The description of the house is very accurately described on the website so nothing to add there. All in all a beautiful home and one we would not hesitate to use again.
Michael
Fab week in very nice property. Situated perfectly to enjoy the amazing Shropshire hills from the door. Garden was lush. Very relaxing time spent with friends. Best of all though, the downstairs standy up toilet gave the ultimate match day experience whilst watching the mighty Toon on the telly!
Victoria
The Big Dingle was a wonderful place to stay and had everything we needed. We had a week here with our two adult children and two teenagers and there was plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The garden was ideal for playing badminton and football which we took with us although there were some outdoor toys in the shed. The house was lovely and clean and the welcome goodies were much appreciated. The kitchen had everything you could need and had lots of glasses, cups and plates etc. The location is perfect for exploring Shropshire and mid Wales and Church Stretton, which is five minutes down the road, has a coop, pubs and takeaways. The only slight downside is the noise from the main road and railway. Personally it didn't bother me but my husband and daugther are light sleepers and they were disturbed at night as we had to have the windows open due to warm weather. We have stayed in lots of holiday cottages and this is definitely one of the best and we would all be very happy to stay here again.
Lovely stylish accommodation. Fluffy and comfortable bedding and spotless towels. Hand towels would be helpful as well as the bath sheets. Downside is railway line behind house that started running before 6am and tooted every time a train passed and the busy road on the other side.
Andrew
Overall we had a great week in the Big Dingle. Very big and spacious house, comfortable and lovely wellkept gardens. Some garden games provided as well as games indoors. Very close to the main road which is quite loud quite a few lorries use the road which may be an issue for some. Also close to the railway line, annoyingly trains use their horns right by the property, some through the night which is not ideal! Tried contacting using the number supplied before we arrived asking for the beds to be made in to doubles, but didn't receive a response. Also messaged about shower blockage in the ensuite but no response received. This lack of response needs addressing in case of urgent issues. Cleanliness generally good, some areas could do with a deep clean though as looks like they haven't been touched in a while. Water temperature dangerously hot, the couple staying in the Little Dingle next door also said the same thing. Needs to be permanently set to a lower temperature to avoid a potential accident. Some sun loungers for the garden would also be a good addition! Enjoyed eating at the Pound Inn up the road, and a walk up the Lawley nearby highly recommended! Despite the above issues we still had a great week, just a few issues off being perfect!
