About Wayside Lodge

Wayside Lodge is a single-storey detached lodge set within Wayside Campsite in Aston on Clun, south Shropshire. The private enclosed garden includes a hot tub and fire pit perfect after a day walking the Shropshire Hills. The lodge sits in quiet countryside with views across the hills and is pet friendly.

Aston on Clun sits close to the River Clun and the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has a pub and community shop within a mile. Craven Arms supermarket is five minutes by car. The on-site barn serves warm drinks, alcohol and food including basket meals guests rate it highly.

Two bedrooms sleep up to four guests a double en suite (basin and WC) and a twin room. The open-plan living space has a kitchen, dining area and sitting room with a woodburning stove. A separate shower room serves the twin room. Bed linen and towels are included.

Ludlow Castle is 11 miles away (20 minutes). Stokesay Castle is 6 miles (12 minutes). The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms is 5 miles (10 minutes). Clun Castle is 3 miles (8 minutes).

We had a great stay at the lodge it is comfortable, clean and fully equipped. We enjoyed using the hot tub, it was clean and ready to use when we arrived. The campsite is well maintained, the staff are welcoming and friendly. The only negatives are the lodge is looking tired, it could do with a revamp and the designated dog area is small, not big enough for the dog to exercise. Overall we had a great stay and value for money.

Had a realy nice weeks stay thankyou

On first impressions the lodge was clean and tidy, and well presented, there was an information book which was helpful. The kitchen equipment was very basic and a bit old and tired but functional. The heating was not very good The lodge was very cold when we arrived but once we got the log burner going it was a bit better, although we had to buy more logs as there were not very many here. The hot water in the shower was a bit intermittent also. We felt that the lodge was comfortable enough in the short term, but was a bit old and tired in places and could do with modernising. Overall we enjoyed our stay here the owners we very welcoming and helpful. The hot tub was nice , but again a bit tired. The TV was disappointing only very limited channels we couldn't stream as it wasn't a smart TV and the Internet was a bit intermittent too.

Nice stay mid October, Cabin ,& Hot tub ,was enjoyable. Good location for Ludlow shopping. Supper Market five minutes drive ,Craven Arms . On site parking ,site was well maintained.

Wonderful and comfortable stay at wayside lodge. The amenities were fantastic, and the little welcome gifts were such a nice touch. We had everything we needed and more, and the views were beautiful. Both my daughter and dog absolutely loved it and we had a fantastic week. Only minor niggle was the rainfall shower wouldnt let us use the normal shower and the switch was broken. We did mentioned it to a staff member but I think they were too busy to come and have a look. But overall a lovley staff and would definitely come again.

Just returned after an excellent mid week stay. Lodge was very comfortable and had everything needed for a really pleasant stay. Had great views overlooking the Shropshire hills. Hot tub was a great bonus. Enjoyed a couple of lovely basket meals from the onsite bar and all the staff extremely welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely lovely few days in the lodge. We came with our pooch and it was a perfect little getaway. Wonderful location, super clean, and really friendly helpful staff. I couldnt recommend it any more! Thank you to the staff who helped make our stay an absolute pleasure!

Wayside lodge is a lovely home from home lodge. So cozy. We had a very relaxed weekend and the hot tub is a great bonus. It is a quite site but everyone is friendly and the staff are always around to help if needed. The bar is a great addition to relax on warm nights. Will definitely recommend to others.

The site managers were lovely especially the male, both were approachable and friendly. The accommodation was warm and comfortable. There were no accessible hoover, brush or mop to be able to clean. We took our dog and it would have been nice to have been able to clean the floor after our walks. The Hot tub smelled very strong of cloreen that it stung our eyes, we even told them not to attend to it for the last 2 days. During our week stay we only used the Hot tub 3 times which was part of the reason for booking that location. When the jets were on in the Hot tub black bits came out and were floating about, we even had to buy a net to try to clean the black bits out. When we arrived we were informed that the games room and bar area was closed. This was disappointing as we had two 12 year olds with us who was looking forward to the games room. We were left a folder with how to work things in the accommodation, however the Wifi code never worked to either of the log ins given resulting in two very board children. The Sky TV was our saving although this was still limited. The log fire was lovely but again there were nothing to light it with and we had to go a purchase a lighter to light it.

My family including my dog had an amazing stay here. It was very clean and the hot tub was clean and properly maintained too. We did have an issue trying to connect to the WiFi here so we just used our data but Im sure it would have been sorted out if we asked. Also the cabin is on a camping site which wasnt stated on Sykes site, but that wasnt a problem as it was nice and quiet in the evenings. We also discovered a wasp nest at the back of the cabin which we brought to the attention of Ian the owner So all in all we had great break away and would definitely go back again.

The lodge was beautiful, very clean and well kept, we felt at ease straight away. Perfect location for enjoying long walks and then relaxing in the hot tub. Have already recommended the place and will continue to. The staff were lovely and we came back with no complaints!
