The Old Dairy Reviews

Caroline
We arrived all was what we had expected. Well equipped kitchen. During the week if we had any questions. ie where to put ashes from wood burner we were given a bucket for them to be put in. also a question about hoover these were resolved quickly. With property being on working farm we could see a little taster of workings and shown sheep with lambs that had recently been born. Some of my family were given the opportunity to help feed the calfs their feed. Any questions we had with regards to the farm were answered with enthusiasm and more information given. We will be looking to return for further visits in the future.
Steven
A return visit for us a comfortable and relaxing stay. The property was clean tidy warm and very inviting when we arrived. Well worth the stay and already looking to rebook for next year.
The Old Dairy was very clean, comfy and impressive thanks to original features being rebuilt into the current property. Ideally situated off the A49 which could get you to the many surrounding towns and attractions. The property was very well equipped with everything needed for your stay with only towels needed to be supplied by yourselves however this was greatly outweighed by the extent of facilities offered. The log burner offered us many cosy evenings for our autumn break and would have no hesitation in booking again.
We enjoyed our stay and loved the uniqueness of The Dairy and its furnishings. Sitting in front of a log fire after a day out enjoying the Autumn colours was very pleasant. Kitchen was very well equipped for meal preparation but remember to take dishwasher tablets with you.
Anthony
Quiet location and close to points of interest. Good sized kitchen, rooms etc
Lovely cottage, well equipped with quality items and accessories. Easy access to local amenities and beauty spots.
Suzanne
My husband and I enjoyed our week's stay here very much. So comfortable and had everything we needed. We hope to return!
Jonathan
We had such a lovely time here. The cottage was cosy and comfortable and we loved seeing the little lambs and the super friendly cat! Would absolutely recommend, a well deserved five stars.
One of the best cottages we have stayed in. Beautiful. Excellent dog secure back garden. Superb in every way.
Damian
Lovely house and modern facilities. My daughter adored the cat she renamed him Best Friend for the week We liked it so much we have already rebooked!
We had a comfortable stay. It is a lovely old place. The walls are very thin beyond owners control so snoring from the bedroom next door drove me to sleep on the lounge floor. Other than that we loved it. The location is beautiful. The cottage is charming. The facilities were very good with the exception that having the freezer outside in the barn was a bit of an issue in dark, cold November nights. A small issue was quickly rectified by the owners. The cosy wood burner was fab.

Comfy and cozy base for exploring Shropshire. Wellequipped kitchen, fast broadband everything we needed.
We really enjoyed our stay in this quirky cottage. Comfy beds, log fire, good food nearby, great company. What more could you ask for.
Lesley
Lovely quaint little cottage in a quiet location. Well equipped. Comfy beds. Didn't use the log fire as the heating warmed the cottage nicely. Games equipment in the barn was a great addition. We found a lovely cake, flowers, pint of milk and tea and coffee when we arrived. However, it would have been nice to have had some handwash in the kitchen. Freezer arrangement is a bit odd, you have to find a bit of space in the already full freezers in the utility outbuilding. Cottage comes complete with very friendly cat! Would happily stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at the Old Dairy. It was lovely and cosy. All on one level which we like. The only thing we didn't realise is that you have to provide your own Towels. This is not mentioned on Sykes website. Jeanette kindly let us borrow some.
Sophie
We have been going to the Old Dairy for a number of years now and love coming back. The cottage is extremely clean, and well maintained. It's very much become a little retreat from city life in the south. The children love coming back and seeing the farm animals. It's in an ideal location to explore Shropshire
Peter David
A charming cottage with a lot of character. Even moreso when taking the amount of work they've done to the location into consideration the pictures just inside the door of how the place looked before the renovation were remarkable. We only had one tiny, insignificant issue with remote control batteries but after a quick phone call that was sorted within half an hour. The extra games room near the farm were an added bonus. My son dragged me out there to play Table Tennis nearly every evening. Mind you, it's tricky playing pingpong when one of the friendly farm cats insists on sitting on your shoulder when you're trying to serve! Would absolutely recommend and would certainly book again.
The house is in a lovely area, you absolutely need a car. We loved the walking close to the house. The house itself has lovely Denby crockery, Masterchef knives etc. but the house needed a real deep clean, cobwebs in bedrooms under draw units and on top of wardrobes, in living room under t.v. unit etc. We hoovered the house, but hoover smelt badly. Owners family lived in the farm house, but never once came to say hello or check everything was ok. We had the use of a freezer in an area near to the farm house, this information was in the welcome book, what you are not told is it is full, so very little space for our use. The weather was so hot and we wanted ice cream for the children we got some magnum ice creams, used one from a box of three, but when we went to get the other two, all that had been left for us was an empty box! Instead of having a dishwasher in the house, a small freezer that you had sole use of would have been better, also informing us that if you put food in the freezer not only was it full, anything you put in it would be used by anyone!
Belinda
We had a lovely stay at the Old Dairy with our dog and really enjoyed our holiday. It met our expectations and it was very comfortable, spacious and fully equipped with everything we needed. It was very dog friendly with an enclosed garden at the back and a field opposite the property. We would not hesitate to recommend this property and we would visit again.
We found the Old Dairy Farm cottage to be very good value for money. We had a most enjoyable holiday and had some lovely days out in Shropshire. When we did have a couple of minor problems the owners responded immediately and went out of their way to help us. Overall should we think about coming to Shropshire again we would not hesitate in booking a cottage at this location again and would be pleased to recommend to other potential users.
Judith
A 5 cottage that provided us with everything we needed and more with so many comforts and thoughtful extras, including a generous supply of logs. There were much appreciated welcome gifts, on arrival, of delicious homemade cake and fresh milk, tea and coffee. A delightful location, right in the middle of an area of outstanding beauty, with so many places to visit. We look forward to a return holiday, as soon as we possibly can. Thank you, Host Family.
It was a beautiful place to stay but as an older couple with a few walking issues should have realised the flagstones would have been a bit uneven and we were worried about tripping, also a couple of the rugs werent flat to the ground at the edges which we did trip on a couple of times but apart from that it was a wonderful place to say . Also our granddaughter loved the working farm and was so happy to be taken onto the fields to see the animals that were there .Think we had a friend for life with the beautiful cat that was there. Would definitely recommend it to people who dont have walking problems.
Lovely rustic barn, lots of character, well equipped, perfectly clean . The welcome pack filled with homemade cake, tea , milk and coffee was well appreciated. Loved the friendly little cat. Perfectly prepared log burner to make us warm and cosy. Weather not on our side, but we made the most of the surrounding sites, Shrewsbury, Iron Bridge, Ludlow, Church Stretton, Clun, etc Lovely week, thank you
The old Dairy was a lovely cosy cottage with beautiful original beams and quirks. lots of ways to keep warm and the hosts were super friendly and even let us look and feed their news lambs which was very kind of them. The games barn had lots of activities to do which kept us busy. Would definitely recommend!
It was perfect Welcoming Warm Quiet Well equipped Comfortable slept really well Lovely hosts and a really friendly cat If I was being really picky I would like a potato masher!
We had a really lovely stay at The Old Dairy it was cosy, well equipped and tastefully decorated , and set in a beautiful location. The owners were welcoming and helpful but also gave us space and privacy. Loved the wood burner! Great offlead dog walks , and handy for both Shrewsbury and Church Stretton. Thank you for a very happy week.
Sophie
We love the Old Dairy and it's our 3rd visit. Already booked for next year as children wanted to return. The play barn is perfect to let them run off steam and they were also able to meet the animals. The cottage itself is very comfortable and has everything you need. It's become our little escape from the rat race down south. Extremely good value for money.
Olivia
The property was very nice There was milk and cake on arrival. The owners were very welcoming. Couldn't find any thing to fault. Had a lovely weeks stay and hope to return one day.
Fantastic place Warm Quiet Just what we needed as nhs staff Good access to ... Fantastic place Warm Quiet Just what we needed as nhs staff Good access to everywhere Attentive people Friendly cat and dogs but only seen once Will go again
Dairy cottage a fabulous property in the countryside. The internal lay out and decoration were excellent for our needs. The quality of the appliances, decorations etc were great. The owner was very nice and nothing was a problem. We would definitely go back and stay there.
Theresa
The cottage is in excellent position that is very peaceful but close to main roads for easy access around the county. We stayed during an exceptionally cold snap but the cottage was very warm and cosy. The sofas and beds were also extremely comfortable. The cottage was well equipped and the owners were friendly and easy to communicate with. Would highly recommend
Such character to cottage. Cosy and brilliant fire and lots of lovely hot water. Good location and good value for accommodation. Loved the kitchen. One of the best places I've stayed for some time.
Philip
Enjoyed our stay. Cosy accommodation.
What a delightful holiday cottage! The cottage was lovely and clean and the lay out was nicely planned. The log fire made it nice and snug and with all the homely touches it was a delight to stay in. The position of the cottage was central to lots of truly delightful days out, even popping over the Wales for a visit.
Sandra
Beautiful setting. Was unaware we were joined to another property until our arrival. Very friendly owners. The Dairy had everything we needed plus more. Excellent enclosed garden so vital when your dog has come too. Would definitely return.
Great location, high standard property, good value
Annette
Fantastic cottage, great host, couldn't want for more. They even gave us cake and fresh flowers. The four of us loved everything in the cottage.
Joseph
On the whole, this was an excellent place and even the weather was kind to us. Perhaps they could in future have spare toilet rolls available but otherwise superb.
Wonderful cottage, very well equipped, clean and cozy. The welcome cake was absolutely scrumptious and went very well with a lovely cuppa on arrival. Lots of information on local places to visit and the track down the road for letting the dog off lead was fabulous. Parking is great and directions spot on. We had a wonderful time and Id recommend The Old Dairy as a great place to stay.
