The Old Nursery Reviews

An idyllic place to stay and Kate was an excellent friendly host. The apartment was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The photographs do not do The Old Nursery justice the rooms were much bigger than they appeared online. Unfortunately there was an unexpected problem with the fridgefreezer which impacted our stay however Kate was most apologetic and compensated us for this inconvenience. Without this unforeseen problem we would have undoubtedly given 5 stars.
A lovely place to stay. So spacious, So wellequipped. Delightful and helpful owner. Wonderful countryside I think the best holiday home we have stayed in and we have been doing so for many years. I have already recommended it to a friend.
Nicole
I had a wonderful stay at this cottage! It was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and had a peaceful, serene atmosphere. The location was perfect for a relaxing getaway, and the comfortable amenities made me feel right at home. Kate was a great hosthelpful and attentive. Id definitely recommend this place!
Judith
Enjoyed a lovely week here, so peaceful, and in a very pretty part of Shropshire. Accommodation comfortable and spacious, with everything one needed. Owners welcoming and available to provide advice and local information. Plenty of places to visit, and eat, more than enough for a week with plenty left for a second visit.
Arrived to find the apartment freshly painted and a welcome pack of bread, cake, eggs and milk. Its a very peaceful spot and theres excellent walking in the area. I didnt meet Kate and Chris but they kept in touch and made sure everything was OK. A great place to take a breather.
Gillian
This is a comfortable, clean apartment which has all the equipment we could wish for and more besides. It is in a good area to see Shropshire and its attractions we had good walks in the beautiful countryside and visited several National Trust and English Heritage properties, all without having to travel too far. The owners Chris and Kate were welcoming, friendly hosts.

Lovely accommodation and central to activies we wanted to do . Shame that so many pubs&restaurants in the area are closed, but the goerge and dragon, the and hotel in much Wenlock were both very nice,as was the Chinese. Chris and kate were very helpful, we hope to return in the summer.
Antoinette
We enjoyed a relaxing holiday in this spotlessly clean, comfortable apartment which is situated in beautiful surroundings. The owners are most welcoming and helpful and it was a pleasure to chat with them.
Philip
A very clean, comfortable and spacious apartment. Friendly owners. Lots of beautiful walks in the area as well as National Trust properties and interesting towns to visit. Helpful leaflets and maps in the apartment. Would recommend.
Duncan
A lovely flat in a fine old house. Spacious, comfortable and stylish. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. We much enjoyed cycling in beautiful Corve Dale and beyond, walking on the Long Mynd, and a pub dinner in the George and Dragon in Much Wenlock. Lots to do nearby.
This was our second holiday at The Old Nursery. It is a very comfortable, quiet apartment with lovely views over the Shropshire Hills. Chris & Kate are extremely friendly, welcoming hosts. There is so much to do in the area we hope to return.
Thank you for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in an extremely comfortable and well equipped apartment. We booked it to spend a week with friends who now live a long way from us. The layout meant we could have our own bedrooms and bathrooms at each end, with the kitchen and living room in the middle. We have usually met up with them at Landmark Trust properties but this is just as good. Thank you Chris and Kate for such a warm welcome and lots of helpful advice.
A very pleasant stay and the owners were most welcoming and attentive. The location was amazing, with wonderful views over the valley.
The property was excellent, just as described and more. The welcome we were given was informative and the owners were very friendly, helpful and informative regarding the local area etc and very quick to act when a problem occurred and it was fixed at the earliest opportunity. The area is beautiful with many places of interest on the doorstep and we are planning to visit again in the future.
Property is owned by a nice friendly couple who live in the Manor House, they were attentive and at the same time allowed us complete freedom to enjoy the property.
Kate and Chris have made a lovely home from home for exploring beautiful Shropshire. I had a fantastic week at the Old Nursery one of the best places I've stayed in terms of comfort and giving access to all the local attractions. There's so much to see within an hours drive of the property, and the countryside is beautiful I'm already planning next year's trip! Must sees Ironbridge, Stokesay Castle, Powis Castle and the other National Trust properties in the area including Wightwick and Dudmaston, and the drive along The Burway over the tops of the hills for amazing views.
Philip
A lovely stylish and comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting. The owners were very helpful and attentive. Fantastic walks, interesting towns and national trust properties near by. The information provided in the house was very helpful. I fully recommend a stay here.
We had a wonderful stay in this comfortable apartment in an idyllic setting with splendid views. The owners were very warm & welcoming and we were very grateful for the groceries including homemade cake. There is so much to do in the area walking on The Long Mynd, visiting National Trust properties, the beautiful peaceful Much Wenlock Priory and Roundton Hill nature reserve. The Talbot Inn and the George & Dragon in Much Wenlock are good for an evening meal.
Yvonne
Lovely property with wonderful, very welcoming hosts. Exceptionally clean and well equipped. Would recommend to others.
Excellent cottage. Quiet and peaceful location, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Owners are friendly and welcoming.
Lovely cosy property in a great location for exploring Shropshire. We received a very warm welcome. The property was clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely return. There was so much to see and do within easy travelling distance. We particularly enjoyed visiting the Ironbridge Museums and exploring the Carding Mill Valley which was incredibly beautiful.
Thank you both for making us so welcome. The Old Nursery is very well equipped and comfortable and is perfectly situated to explore Shropshire. We visited the towns and castles, enjoyed some walks and stopped for coffee and lunch in one of the many good cafes. We will be back.
If Sykes Cottages have premium listings this accommodation should be on it. We have stayed in quite a few properties with Sykes and others over the years and this was the best yet. Our only, slightly negative comment is that the lounge and dining room chairs are not as comfortable as they look.
Judith
We had a great time at The Old Nursery. It was perfectly situated for sightseeing, walking and relaxing. A marvellous home with all that you could need for a week or more away from home. We would throughly recommend this home to anyone interested in exploring this area. The hosts, by the way, were great fun and very helpful.
Excellent apartment. Welcoming hosts. Beautifull seroundings. Many things to see and visit.
William
Very friendly and informative hosts. Property is nicely positioned for sightseeing and walking, pubs and restaurants Early in week limited to Much Wenlock or further afield as local pubsrestaurants not open. Property set in own pleasant grounds. Not suitable for those with limited mobility. This may be clear from the listing but we didn't check as it didn't apply!
Carolyn
The apartment was clean and comfortable, ideally situated for visiting our family and friends in Shropshire. We were very warmly welcomed by the owners and felt very much at home all week. We were blessed by lovely weather.
We were met by the owners on arrival who made us very welcome. The apartment was very comfortable and everything we needed was supplied. It is also in a very nice location, with lovely views. There are plenty of walks within easy drive and also many National Trust properties. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Richard
Everything was lovely and the property was ideally located for us to visit Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Church Stretton with walks near Long Mynd and Much Wenlock. It is a beautiful setting a few miles outside the nearest town. It was great to have the 2 bathrooms and everything we needed seemed to have been provided. I guess if I could change one thing, with 4 of us staying we would have preferred a larger, more comfortable sofa or another armchair so we could all have more room to relax in the evening.
Andrew
The apartment was as described and the owners could not have been more helpful. The whole Manor is being returned to its former glory, a true labour of love and dedication by the owners Chris and Kate to which I wish them well in all their endeavours.
Jocelyn
This apartment was part a lovely old Manor House with beautiful country views. The owners were very welcoming and accommodating. We loved exploring the area which included the museums and sites around the Iron Bridge Gorge.
Hannah
Lovely accommodation, in a really peaceful and relaxing setting. We were very happy with the facilities provided and had a comfortable and pleasant stay. Lots to do in the area, including walks in the hills, interesting towns and plenty of options for eating out. Happy to recommend both the area and the accommodation.
Anthony
We enjoyed a lovely week in Shropshire, taking in plenty of hill walking. The appartment was lovely, spacious and in a beautiful location a great base to visit the area.
Bourton Manor is an ideal location for exploring the beautiful Shropshire countryside. Accommodation, facilities and hosts are all very welcoming.
