Deborah
What a lovely place to stay. Loads of space, great views, so close to town centre and nice clean new bathrooms. Didn't quite know what to expect but we were all blown away by the place and Bishop's Castle is such a lovely small town
Malcolm
A lot of proactive thinking has gone into providing the guests of Lane House with all the facilities they might need
Very clean spacious and comfortable house. Great views of the surrounding countryside and yet only a minutes walk to the local amenities. Will definitely visit again.

This property is perfectly located for offas dyke path. It is well equipped for large groups
Lane House is excellent spacious, comfortable and extremely well equipped. And perfectly situated for access to Bishops Castle and the surrounding countryside, both of which are wonderful ! Friendly and helpful hosts were on hand, and we had a great long weekend stay and we would have no hesitation to book again. Many thanks !
Jeanette
Great property for a larger group of people. Lots of bathrooms and 5 bedrooms. Lounge was very comfortable and dining area plenty big enough. We we lucky with the weather and made the most of sitting out in the garden looking at the fantastic view. Good location right in town centre for easy access to shops, pubs and walks. All really enjoyed our stay.
Philip
Nice to have the owners on site, if I needed anything, very friendly people
Stephanie
The house is so big and so beautiful and the garden is beautifully maintained and full of gorgeous blooms. Just the right size garden for the kids to play in, the house was brilliant for hide and seek too!! The house was so comfortable and clean! It was like a home from home! Adrian host was lovely and helpful!! The beds OMG the best mattress and pillow I've ever slept on! We haven't got a bad word to say about it, it had everything we needed xx HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Tristan
A great rental, in the heart of Bishop's Castle, just a stone's throw from pubs, shops and takeaways. The house was very well equipped with more than enough plates, glasses, etc which were needed when some extra family visited for a lunch. The small box of kids' toys was wellused. I would recommend it, especially for large groups like ours.
This cottage is in a lovely location with scenic views all round. Its very well equipped and the lounge has a lovely homely, comfortable feel, and with 5 settees it is a very sociable area, ideal for large groups. Its very clean throughout and whole cottage felt lovely and spacious. Could be improved by getting rid of some of the rugs and put a new carpet in the lounge, and the furniture is a bit dated, but very good quality, however, it was very reasonably priced and we had a superb holiday here and would most definitely come back again and highly recommend it.
Steven
Great place in a great location. Very well equipped. no problems at all.
Rodney
This is the best equipt housecottage we have rented from Sykes, Attention to ... This is the best equipt housecottage we have rented from Sykes, Attention to some minor detail would improve the property even more, curtains in the lounge need attention when opening and closing
Lovely spacious house with gorgeous view to the hills. It felt very homely and comfortable, but most of all we enjoyed the space. Extremely wellequipped kitchen with large fridge and freezer. Always warm and a very light home. Would love to stay in summer and make use of the patio and garden.
Carolyn
Lane house is a lovely comfortable house . The kitchen is well equipped . We visited in January and the house was always nice and warm. We enjoyed the large lounge and the picture windows with views of the Shropshire countryside. Thank you Adrian for a relaxing stay.
Frances Grace
Fantastic large house for larger groups offering plenty of personal space. Very well stocked with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. And not a spider Web to be found, thats a massive bonus for a house that size and a good sign its well maintained and cleaned. Beautiful views from every window and a beautiful area to visit. Very impressed. Will book again.
Valerie
Lane House is a lovely spacious house in the cute little town of Bishop's Castle. There are lovely views at the front and an enormous lounge with 5 double sofas! Adrian the owner is very friendly and responds quickly to queries. We 8 of us including our grandchildren had a wonderful time and I thoroughly recommend Lane House.
6 of us Ladies recently enjoyed staying from 11th to 15th Sept. The Lane itself to access the House is pretty tight and requires a little manoeuvring to get onto the driveway, which is adequate for 23 vehicles. Entrance into Porch has no key, which was a red flag to us. Porch roof was leaking quite badly. Owner was due to get it fixed. As previous reviews, trip hazard with large rug in Dining Room. Facilities good, but property requires TLC. Not many Pubs or Shops open whilst we were there. Three Tuns well worth a visit. A good time was had by all
Bad weather for our midsummer stay but the accommodation made it irrelevant. Great views from the property. Friendly and helpful hosts who weren't intrusive and a stone's throw from the Three Tuns perfect!
Great place to stay. Big comfortable rooms and everything you could want. Owners very welcoming and helpful
We had a really fantastic stay. The house was perfect for us, with 4 adults and 5 children.
A lovely house in a quiet backwater with the most spectacular views. Friendly and helpful owner. We really enjoyed our two night stay.
Lovely situation with superb views from the garden terrace . Ideal accommodation for a family holiday . The town centre and well regarded Three Tuns brewery , restaurant and pub literally just around the corner . Childrens playground in the town well equipped , kids loved it .The house is very well equipped and comfortable . Coop store in town well stocked for everyday needs . Great walking opportunities . Some of the carpets are a little faded but this adds to the homely feel . Parking for up to 3 cars though access requires caution .
The house is located in a suitable environment and has almost all facilities, the distance to the shops is less than five minutes of walking.
Absolutely perfect! !! Well stocked, and actually felt very spacious for 10 close friends celebrating a 40th birthday. The cottage had everything we needed. The views are breathtaking! The lounge was perfect for 10 of us. The cottage is lovely and warm too. It was just all perfect for a lovely weekend away. Loved it! Host warm and friendly too on arrival.
This is a lovely house in a great location with lots of room and a stunning garden with views of the town and hills. The bedrooms are of a good standard and the 3 bathrooms are all recently refurbished. the kitchen is well equipped and the lounge very comfortable. You can sit outside in a sun trap as a morning bonus. The owner is very friendly and helpful and is a mine of information about Bishops Castle and surrounding area. There is so much to do especially if you like walking, but this is also a lively town with lots of pubs and eating places. The house is perfect for a large group or family we were a walking group and had a great time on Long Mynd, Stipertones and Cear Caradoc. There are walks all round the area for all abilities. We absolutely loved it and would highly recommend this house for a holiday.
We all had a great stay. We loved the views from the big windows and the bird watching into the valley. The kitchen and dining room worked well, only a large casserole dish was missing for us we lined a big oven tray instead. Lovely and warm. The number of bathrooms was great with lots of singles. A few of the doors would welcome a drop of oil, so that night time loo visits didn't waken others. A friendly visit from Adrian, together with lots to do during the festival, and a walk on the Sunday made for a wonderful weekend. All my party said they would like to return again.
A spacious, comfortable house with amazing views. Great location literally round the corner from the high street. Extremely well equipped, with all the utensils and crockery that you're likely to need. The 3 bathrooms are recently refurbished and most of the house is warm and cosy, helped by the well fuelled woodburner. The only exception is the hallway and downstairs bedrooms, that are quite chilly. The piano was a great hit with us, as we have a couple of musicians in the family. I hope we didn't disturb the neighbours too much! We felt that the curtains and carpets could do with replacing, hence the reason for not giving top marks. The rugs in the dining area in particular, are a trip hazard. But we had a great weekend and want to say many thanks to Adrian the owner, who was very friendly and unobtrusive. Lane House is a delight!
Colleen
This property was outstanding and the pictures on the website really dont do this house justice. We stayed the weekend as a surprise family get away for my other half and we all had the best time so much so everyone wants to return. The only criticism I would give is that being we booked for the winter time is the darker evenings draw in early and not being able to book in till 5 gave us a challenge, as it was dark and unloading three cars in the dark with only one small light outside the property which is not bright made it difficult to walk the small path to the house from parking. Maybe an earlier time for getting in is required in darker days or more lights. The owners son came and seen us as we arrived and was very friendly and ready to help with information but as we were visiting family in bishops castle and been here many times we saved him. House is lovely, plenty of space and everything you need in the kitchen even double of most things. Rooms were tidy and beds very comfy. Can imagine in the warmer sunny days the garden will be beautiful to use.
Daragh
Very spacious comfortable and homely. Had a lovely time here
We had a great time. The facilities provided were very good. Plenty of kitchen cooking equipment, plates cups etc all clean and reAdy to use. Comfortable beds and bedding. Living room large and spacious. Shower rooms very clean looked newly refurbished. Views over the town spectacular. Plenty of outside space well presented. Parking available though care needed to access the space with a large vehicle but very possible. Greeted by owners family who share locall knowledge about the area. Would recommend this property to others visitors and given the opportunity would return.
Sophia
A lovely place to stay for an extended family gettogether. Comfortable, roomy, and masses of crockery! Wonderful view from the verandah. Very helpful and welcoming owner. A towel rail in each bedroom would be a help as the shower rooms are shared. Despite the listing saying only one parking space we got three cars into the space, 2 of them large
Robert
Lovely house with plenty of crockery and glasses. Lots of rugs throughout the property which we found a bit of a trip hazard. Owner extremely helpful with good advice about the local amenities.
Sandra
Had lovely time in Lane House. The owners couldn't have been nicer. Wonderful space both indoor and outside for the children and comfortable beds. Only issue was cordless Hoover didnt really work properly. Would recommend this property
We hired this house for a large extended family gathering and it worked out very well, sleeping arrangements were great lovely view of town from one upstairs room, the living room was spacious with numerous windows so light and the kitchen dining room with large table worked well to enable all the adults to eat together once infants were in bed. The town itself is interesting and walkable from the house. Parking could be a bit of a challenge if you have multiple cars but local close on street parking was always available.
