Forrester House Reviews

Rachel
We had a lovely time at Forrester House as a family get together of 7 people and Cassie dog. The quality of furnishings etc is high end, bathrooms lovely and it is soooo clean and beautifully presented. Nice areas in the house to be together but also if you want to escape everyone! Down some lanes and so quiet, but just 15 mins to Whitchurch for all you need. Nice walks from the doorstep and Marina Cafe for coffee and cake is a must just a short stroll from the house. Lovely watching the birds in the garden with a coffee. Would love to return. Thank you
Danielle

Special touches milk, tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits and a bottle of fizz with a lovely welcome note, along with a Christmas tree. Also supplied were 2 x toilet rolls in every toiletbathroom, kitchen roll, clothes, sponges, ttowels, bin bags, tin foil, cling film, diswasher tablets, fairy liquid, hand soap. Highly recommended x

We have recently returned from a weekend at Forrester House. We go away every year as a group of 6 friends to enjoy a few days of knitting and crocheting together. This house was fantastic and we had a lovely weekend. The cafe at the marina serves excellent food and takes a few minutes to walk there. The house is beautiful and has everything you could want during your stay. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are all beautifully furnished. We enjoyed some nice walks along the canal and loved sitting out in the garden to make the most of the last few warm days in October.
Accommodation was as described. Perfect setting and location for our needs, plenty of space and very comfortable. Outside space was great too. Just a thought, mirrors in the bedroom would be useful next to an accessible socket. Also the hanging ceiling light in the kitchen would be better not there. Didnt provide the right light in the right place and we all knocked our head on it
This was our third year at Forresters House and again had a wonderful holiday with family. The house configuration suits us well for6 adults and 2 small children. We like counting the tractors we view from the window each day 45 in total!. Very peaceful setting with a short walk across to Whixall Marina breakfast stop on last morning. Hired a boat for the day from the Marina that took us to Whitchurch. Another lovely stay.

We booked Forrester House for a long weekend away with friends four adults and four children and it turned out to be the perfect choice for this kind of trip. We spent loads of time in the garden, playing cricket, rounders, and hideandseek. The kids honestly spent about 90 of the weekend just hanging out there. The kitchen was really well stocked with everything we needed to cook proper meals. With the kitchen, dining, and living areas all opening up completely, the space felt much bigger than it actually is. The second living roomsnug was a lovely bonus, it gave the kids their own space in the evenings to watch TV and chat. The beds were comfortable, and the showers were excellent. The house backs onto the canal, which is ideal for walks. We actually cycled along it to Ellesmere about 7 miles, all offroad and really peaceful. We had such a great stay that were already thinking about booking again!

Forrester House proved to be an excellent choice. There were three couples in our party so we each effectively had a bathroom with a spare bedroom for storage or a quiet retreat. The property was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The nearby canal basin cafe was a good local facility in an otherwise remote location. If you want a quiet but comfortable retreat then book it quickly!
Beautiful well equipped house in a very quiet position just a 5 min walk through a gate to the marina. Spotlessly clean everywhere. We are brothers & sisters in our 60s & mostly 70s getting together & celebrating my birthday. Lovely garden for our dog & it was a pleasure for us to watch a barn owl hunting over the field. The only problem was the seating in the main living room..there was 8 of us & not enough sofaarmchairs to all sit comfortably..I had to bring in a garden chair. There is another beautiful cozy snug also but we all sat together to watch abit of tv. We would definitely go back to stay.
Lovely house, kept with high standards. Good facilities available. Marina near by. We enjoyed our stay.
An exceptional property. Beautiful fitted with plenty of of room for 6 adults and 2 lively children. It never felt cramped and the kids spent hours playing hide and seek. Particularly like the snug which gave a haven of tranquility when needed. Beautiful peaceful surroundings, close to the marina who do wonderful breakfasts. Would highly recommend this property.
Great place to stop. plenty of space. good equipment
Tracey
Forrester house was amazing! ! Had everything you wanted and more, standard of cleanliness was incredible and the quality of the soft furnishings outstanding. The beautiful garden was perfect for the dog and would highly recommend this holiday home to anyone! Will definitely be back!! Thank you for the milk and biscuits which were much needed after a long drive.
We had a lovely stay at Forrester House, our second time, to enjoy a family celebration in Tilstock. The house configuration works well for us 6 adults & 2 small children. We hired a boat for a day at Whixall marine had a lovely time. Comfortable bedrooms. Lots to do in area so visteid aqueduct, ironworks in Oswestry, walk around Brown Moss, breakfast at Marina. House well equipped BUT need a bottle opener, can opener, tray & serving dishes plus soap and shampoo in bathrooms.
Fantastic house everything you would need Exceptionally clean . Great garden .
A beautiful house in a lovely location. Had everything we needed and more. Spotlessly clean. Comfy beds. Look forward to returning.
Amazing house and spotlessly clean and tidy . The kitchen was really well equipped with plenty of crockery and cutlery. The biscuits were a nice touch on arrival. A great location and so nice to have the marina to walk to for a coffee in the morning . If we had a slight negative comment would be that to sit 8 adults comfortably in one lounge area so we could all be together was a tight squeeze and not that comfortable. We moved a couple of chairs though from the bedrooms so it certainly wasnt a negative comment and if needed there is the other lounge area we all wanted to sit together Other that that a great stay in a wonderful house.
Beautiful presentation Great facilities Perfect for a get together with ... Beautiful presentation Great facilities Perfect for a get together with friends Good location for some nice walks by the canal and surrounding countryside Loved watching the Barn Owl
Judith
Very comfortable stay. No complaints. The Marina cafe is next door so very close by but shuts at 3 or 4pm and the nearest pubs or shops are a drive away. Sykes website description should be amended regarding bathrooms. There are 2 ensuite bedrooms with toilet and shower, one bathroom with shower over the bath and toilet which is shared by 2 bedrooms, one of which has direct access to it. The remaining bathroom is a cloakroom toilet downstairs with no shower or bath.
A very pleasant family retreat sad it was only the weekend but will certainly consider coming back. LOVED the cleanliness of the house and the fact it was so well equipped it was just perfect and a true home from home. This was booked as a surprise for my wifes special birthday and I know how particular she can be, but neednt of worried as she loved the house, the beautiful decor and the furnishings. Communications when booking were seamless thank you so much.

Forrester House was used as a preChristmas gathering for myself and my partner, and his family. His family are spread out across all corners of the country and we took the week to reconnect with each other. The house was perfectly suited to our needs as a family of 7, plus dog areas to be close and spend quality time with each other, and areas to hide away and escape. Our favourite room was the small lounge we nicknamed it 'The Snug'. The utility room was ideal for dog owners postwalk, especially if your pooches like to get a bit muddy! All bedrooms were very spacious, as well as the ensuites and bathrooms. The kitchen is wellequipped with everything you need, and the Christmas tree was a nice nod to the festive time of year. The house is well presented, down to the decor and the layout of each room. We enjoyed exploring the local area's towns and villages during our stay. On departure, there were many tears, and we don't know when the next time all of us will be all together again but they were happy tears, filled with the memories we created as a family. Thank you to Lou and her fantastic team! We will never forget our time at Forrester House.
Louise
Stunning property! Beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, show home standard! Very well equipped with everything you'd need. Great location with beautiful walks and rolling countryside. Booked to go back next year we loved it so much!
First class accommodation. No complaints at all. We had an excellent weekend gettogether with the family
An absolute gem and so accommodating. Excellent communication. The house is beautiful, filled with lovely pieces of art and all the essentials you need. We arrived to a pint of milk and some delicious biscuits, which was a nice touch. We would definitely come back again. Thank you.
This is a beautiful property, lots of thought and care has been given to providing a comfortable and well equipped house. Lovely and clean, comfy beds and good showers. It has a private spacious garden, a perfect patio area and close to the Marina and its cafe ! Thank you to Lou and the team for our box of biscuits and leaving us coffee, tea and milk to start us off on our weekend. We had some lovely long awaited family time so thank you all and we'd love to come back.
Fantastic property which was spotlessly clean . Everything looked new , plenty of room for everybody and kitchen well stocked . The showers were amazing and hot water constantly for people to shower at the same time . Great location too.
Lovely house, very comfortable. Just one small thing. Not enough sofas or armchairs for everyone in either room.
Angela
A clean comfortable cottage
Another great stay , Lou and the team keep everything at a high standard. The house is extremely comfortable and it feels like home as soon as you walk through the door . It has a lovely garden for both the grandchildren and mutt who had great fun in it . There is plenty to do in the area , lots of lovely walks along the canal and the Marina has a great cafe to go too afterwards. We love the area and will be returning again.
Forrester House was everything we hoped it would be. It's in a beautiful and peaceful location. We walked to the Marina for breakfast. It's close to Chirk Castle where we had a lovely day out. We would definitely recommend staying at Forrester House.
WE STAYED AT FORRESTER HOUSE FOR A FAMILY GET TOGETHER I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THIS PROPERTY AS A SECRET SO NO ONE ELSE CAN GO ONLY US BUT THAT WOULD BE UNFAIR THIS HOUSE IS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY AND I CANT PRAISE IT HIGHLY ENOUGH WE WILL GO BACK AGAIN FOR SURE.
Kathleen
The property is of a high standard, well equipped and immaculately kept.
Lindsay
Lovely warm spotlessly clean property, perfect for getting away from everything, very big secure garden my dog loved it. Area was lovely very relaxing and nice cafe at whixall marina , would definitely go back.
This property was a delight in stay in! We were impressed within the first few minutes. The house is outfitted to a very high standard, is in a quiet and peaceful location and communication with the owner was excellent. The facilities are also top notch and the views are fantastic to wake up to. We will be definitely returning!
Forrester House is a very comfortable property and we would definitely recommend it for a holiday in a very nice part of the country. Would have liked a DVD player connected to the TV, this was the only item that was missing for us in a very well equipped house.
This is our second stay at Forrester House, my daughter booked it last year and we loved it so much we wanted to return. We were a party of 5.. 3 adults and 2 children and our dog Tommy. This house is beautiful, warm clean and comfortable and has everything you need for your stay. The bedrooms are great having 2ensuites and a shared bathroom for the 2 other rooms.lovely beds and plenty of towels. The garden is spacious and secure great for the children and the dog. There is a lot to see around this area, good walks where you can take your dog
I loved my weeks trip at Forrester House and can't wait to return. No expense spared with the quality of furnishings. Very tastefully decorated. A beautiful large garden and quirky rounded windows. Pics don't actually do it justice it's that good. I didn't even spend any time in the main living room as I couldn't tear myself away from the stunning view and sunsets while lounging in the dining room seating area. You will not regret booking this place!! There is also a lovely little cafe next to the canal which is a stones throw away from the house. A fantastic example of a Sykes property I will use this as my goto company going forward as I regularly stay away from home.
The house was amazing. Perfect for our needs and group. The location is remote but we knew that and is exactly what we needed for a getaway from it all holiday. It was lovely to visit a property that is so well equipped and furnished.
George
A lovely warm inviting holiday home , we have stayed at lots of holiday homes but this one is one of the best . A true home from home tastefully decorated with everything including the kitchen sink . We stayed as a party of three couples so we each had our own bathroom. We all said we would love to re visit in the summer .
Barrie
Fantastic well equipped house. High end fixtures and fittings. Nothing to much trouble for the owners. Short walk to marina and cafe.
Fabulous house, very clean and comfortable. Plenty of Crockery, cutlery and glasses. Great location by the canal with lovely walks. Would highly recommend
