We tried to book The Old Nursery last year but it was fully booked. We booked in January this year there were only three weeks left for 2026 and it didn't disappoint. We received a warm welcome from Chris and Kate. Spacious, clean and well appointed, it has been a pleasure to stay in such glorious and quiet surroundings. So much to do locally, loads of National Trust, quaint historical villages and lush rolling hills. We'll be sad to leave but have made lovely memories. Thank you, Caroline and Vince

Lovely spacious apartment with beautiful surroundings everything you would want for a nice relaxing holiday. The apartment was clean & very well equipped with lots of little extras. Great hosts made us feel welcome & nothing was too much trouble. We came back & immediately booked for next year.

Forget the coast, forget the Cotswolds, this is where to find the scenery, fascinating towns and historical properties. And The Old Nursery itself is part of an historical and picturesque manor house in a beautiful setting. Despite its age 1625?, the accommodation is clean, modern and spacious with everything you'll need for your stay, including a welcome food pack. Ironbridge is the obvious attraction not far away, but take a look at other National Trust and English Heritage properties. You can also spend several hours in Much Wenlock, Ludlow, Bridgnorth. Church Stretton is very pleasant with the added bonus of walks into the hills. Highly recommend this property.

A cosy, comfortable marriage of old heritage and new convenience set in a picturesque manor with a 13th century church in the wellkept grounds. The garden for the Ol' Nursery has the best views I've expierienced in Sykes. The bed was very comfortable with its own ensuite wellappointed bathroom. I was very at ease for the whole week and Much Wenlock 3 mls distant with its Guildhall, Museum and the Edge, a city quality entertainment venue, the Abbey remains, and a High Street full of niche shops was a delight. All this and the wondrous Shropshire landscape housing quaint villages, historic towns, Stately Homes, and more than enough for several weeks' worth of holidays. And friendly, welcoming hosts to boot. Wanted to come back before I left!

An idyllic place to stay and Kate was an excellent friendly host. The apartment was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The photographs do not do The Old Nursery justice the rooms were much bigger than they appeared online. Unfortunately there was an unexpected problem with the fridgefreezer which impacted our stay however Kate was most apologetic and compensated us for this inconvenience. Without this unforeseen problem we would have undoubtedly given 5 stars.

A lovely place to stay. So spacious, So wellequipped. Delightful and helpful owner. Wonderful countryside I think the best holiday home we have stayed in and we have been doing so for many years. I have already recommended it to a friend.

Owners welcoming and available to provide advice and local information. Plenty of places to visit, and eat, more than enough for a week with plenty left for a second visit.

Arrived to find the apartment freshly painted and a welcome pack of bread, cake, eggs and milk. Its a very peaceful spot and theres excellent walking in the area. I didnt meet Kate and Chris but they kept in touch and made sure everything was OK. A great place to take a breather.

This was our second holiday at The Old Nursery. It is a very comfortable, quiet apartment with lovely views over the Shropshire Hills. Chris & Kate are extremely friendly, welcoming hosts. There is so much to do in the area we hope to return.

Thank you for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in an extremely comfortable and well equipped apartment. We booked it to spend a week with friends who now live a long way from us. The layout meant we could have our own bedrooms and bathrooms at each end, with the kitchen and living room in the middle. We have usually met up with them at Landmark Trust properties but this is just as good. Thank you Chris and Kate for such a warm welcome and lots of helpful advice.

The property was excellent, just as described and more. The welcome we were given was informative and the owners were very friendly, helpful and informative regarding the local area etc and very quick to act when a problem occurred and it was fixed at the earliest opportunity. Kate and Chris have made a lovely home from home for exploring beautiful Shropshire. I had a fantastic week at the Old Nursery one of the best places I've stayed in terms of comfort and giving access to all the local attractions. There's so much to see within an hours drive of the property, and the countryside is beautiful I'm already planning next year's trip! Must sees Ironbridge, Stokesay Castle, Powis Castle and the other National Trust properties in the area including Wightwick and Dudmaston, and the drive along The Burway over the tops of the hills for amazing views.

We had a wonderful stay in this comfortable apartment in an idyllic setting with splendid views. The owners were very warm & welcoming and we were very grateful for the groceries including homemade cake. There is so much to do in the area walking on The Long Mynd, visiting National Trust properties, the beautiful peaceful Much Wenlock Priory and Roundton Hill nature reserve. The Talbot Inn and the George & Dragon in Much Wenlock are good for an evening meal.

If Sykes Cottages have premium listings this accommodation should be on it. We have stayed in quite a few properties with Sykes and others over the years and this was the best yet. Our only, slightly negative comment is that the lounge and dining room chairs are not as comfortable as they look.

Everything was lovely and the property was ideally located for us to visit Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Church Stretton with walks near Long Mynd and Much Wenlock. It is a beautiful setting a few miles outside the nearest town. It was great to have the 2 bathrooms and everything we needed seemed to have been provided. I guess if I could change one thing, with 4 of us staying we would have preferred a larger, more comfortable sofa or another armchair so we could all have more room to relax in the evening.
