Windy Mundy Farm Reviews

Ashley
A beautiful house, absolutely perfect for a large gathering. The main attraction was definitely the loungegathering area which was so unique and exquisite. The only complaint we had from the group was that the internet didnt not reach the bedrooms. This meant that the children and grandparent had to be social. Not a bad thing in my view.
Spent a lovely few days celebrating our anniversary fantastic building full of character, would definitely recommend and go back.
Lovely property in a fantastic location, its a shame the pluming needs some attention, Sink in kitchen kept getting blocked, flushed toilet in one of the bedrooms and water came up in the bath.
Jackie
Its a great property with lots of space. We appreciated the enormous amount of glasses and kitchen wear available. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable. We were very happy with the inside space. It was a very hot weekend so we spent a lot of time outside. Fortunately I could see from the pictures that there was no adequate garden furniture so took looks of camping chairs and a foldable table with me, which proved to be a godsend. The decking area is dangerous and inadequate for the size of the property. Its very high with no step. There were lots of cigarette ends all over the courtyard too which we had to pick up as we had very young children with us
We had a fantastic time, all the family thought it was a lovely place. The best was sitting on the decking looking at the view pool table was used a lot didn't use the sauna. All the rooms were very comfortable & kitchen well stocked. The only niggle I have is the bedroom 8 I think on the spiral staircase, no bathroom or acess to other rooms without coming down stairs & no spare bathroom for them to use. We were fortunate 1 couple could not make it so it wasn't used. Highly recommended for 7 bedrooms.
Catherine
Really enjoyable stay. Very comfortable and the layout was perfect for larger groups. The only criticism is the decking was very high to step up and had to jump off. Maybe a step needed. Would definitely return. Thank you
Tricky to get hold of when we had a query. Would be great to know the room layoutsbathroomsbed configurations in advance for planning. Location, house, facilities perfect!!!!! All the cooking, catering, crockery etc in abundance. Love the rooms for sittingdining in. 100 recommend.

Windy Mundy was a wonderful place to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary with close family. Sadly, due to family circumstances not everyone due to stay could join us. Those that did loved the venue and wished it had been longer than two nights. The converted property has many interesting features to look at. Thanks to the owners for providing such a well equipped kitchen plus cleaning products and hand wash etc. Yes, the pressure in the shower on the first floor was slow, however, the water was lovely and hot. Some guests found the mattresses a little soft but that can be subjective. Guests with mobility issues found the sofa's and easy chairs very low to sit on, may I suggest the provision of a couple of high backed upright chairs? Overall, we had a great time and maybe we will come back again.

Stunning farmhouse with an amazing view for a summer weekend stay. Pictures don't do it justice.

Fantastic stay at Windy Mundy Farm. Very comfortable beds and sleeping arrangements for 16 guests. Beautifully kept house the pictures didn't do it justice! Only down point was the water pressure in some of the showers. But otherwise a wonderful stay.
What a fantastic property! It was perfect for our extended family weekend away, comfortably accommodating three generations from 17 to 81. The communal space allowed us all to spend quality time together. The response time and service provided was excellent. There was a minor problem with the heating in the annex and it was fixed within an hour of calling.
Windy Mundy was the perfect place for our family get together. There were 14 adults in our group . The kitchen and dining facilities are absolutely superb for a family get together with plenty of space and a gorgeous dining table. The lounge area with the fire is also very atmospheric and a lovely place to be. The views are outstanding. All of the bedrooms and and bathrooms are of a good quality. However, would advise that the mezzanine is a long way from a bathroom bathroom and the spiral staircase makes it a little inaccessible as a bedroom. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would most definitely return and certainly recommend it.
The venue was ideal for a family birthday celebration. We loved the barn and its conversion. Please note that a tile fell from the roof at the back of the barn near to exit gate in a very strong wind. Bedroom E has a leak under the bath. The track to the venue has a lot of deep potholes and probably requires aggregate filling before others visit. We have advised you three times that the driving directions on the final email instructions do NOT apply to this property.
The place is well suited to large groups with enough tables and chairs as well as beds. It is comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with pots pans plates etc. Facilities to make drinks on arrival are appreciated. The approach to the place is via pothole strewn track. The managers responded quickly when we had an issue. We have stayed here before so staying again is probably the best recommendation, however Sykes intransigence in not letting us correct a minor mistake in booking dates without incurring cancellation fees means we probably won't stay again,
The cottage looked great in the pictures, with an idyllic and remote location. However it was not a comfortable stay. The building is impressive with a lovely kitchen and vaulted ceilings. However The sofa and mattresses are in a fairly desperate state. But our main issue was the heating. We went in January 2025. The heating packed in for one day. The local contact person came round and checked the boiler but was unable to fix the problem. By the evening some of the party were packing to leave. Fortunately we were able to work out it was pollen with the thermostat ourselves and we got heating back on before the kids went to bed. Not a venue for a winter stay or those who like a mattress that doesnt dip like a bowl.
This property is amazing! We stayed with friends for my husbands 40th birthday & we were all blown away. The kitchen is well equipped with everything that you need, the rooms are spacious each having their own bathroom & the living room is really cosy, despite how big it is. We all had such a great weekend. Hopefully well be back!!
Excellent stay at Windy Mundy, comfortable in every way. All the family had a great time it was a joint celebration of our golden and our daughters silver wedding anniversary a perfect setting. Many thanks to Megan for her help and advice regarding walking in the area. The view from the farm was the icing on the cake especially when the sun was rising.

We rented Windy Mundy for a long weekend with a groups a friends from our University days. It was a party of 11 adults and the house was perfect. All the rooms were spacious and comfortable with excellent facilities to cook for a large party. There was plenty of room for people to chat in small groups as well as for us to eat together at the large sociable dining table. The location is quite isolated which was perfect for us as there was a bit of Karaoke going on so there are no neighbours to disturb !! The house itself has a very welcoming feel, 'farm house' with some very stylish features and everyone commented on how comfortable it felt i.e. you felt immediately at home there. We mostly stayed at the house but did venture into Shrewsbury which is about 30 mins by car and is a lovely town. We also took our dog for a walk along the river and he had a lovely time. The shops were a bit different and characterful with some standard retailers as well as niche boutiques. A few people from our group visited the Shrewsbury prison tour which they found very interesting and worthwhile. A couple of minor points as we would highly recommend this house. It was a little tricky to find so some improved instructions would help. We went along the track road a number of times and turned back not realising how far along the house is. Location of keys to access the sauna etc was not clear again a few more instructions would help. The hot water pressure is weak and maybe a bit more guidance on re cycling bottles etc. Thank you for letting us stay in this wonderful house we had a fabulous time !!! xxx
Thank you for a great stay. We absolutely loved the house, the property is perfect for a large group of family or friends. Everything you need for a perfect stay.
For our family it was perfect. We, as a family of 9 adults, 2 under 5s and 2 dogs, have been holidaying together for the last 5 years staying in various large properties across Scotland and England, and Windy Mundy has been by far the best place we have stayed. Having a completely enclosed gardencourt yard it was perfect for our little ones and our pooches enabling us all to chill and relax! The bedrooms were all clean and comfortable. The kitchen very well equipped. Yes the furniture is in a used condition but having little ones etc that again lends to relief for us grown ups if our babies behave like babies do
Claire
Absolutely brilliant holiday away. Beautiful house, lovely clean rooms and felt completely remote although only a 10 min drive into the village and a 20 min drive to all the big supermarkets. We would definitely book again! Only feedback we would give, would have been brilliant to have a little swimming pool in the garden as we picked possibly the hottest week to go, haha! Easy booking, easy key collection and very organised! Thank you!
Stuart
What a beautiful and relaxing property to stay in! We absolutely loved it the exposed brickwork in the living room space is amazing, and the views out over the fields are so gorgeous and relaxing. It's very well stocked with everything you need to cook for a large group. Beds are super comfy. Only slight issues that would make it even better very poor water pressure and most of the showers are handheld over a bathtub which is awkward. The fire is very smoky does the chimney maybe need cleaning? If someone could sort the track leading down to the farmhouse and fill in the potholes that would be great. Otherwise a perfect, relaxing and fun stay. Thanks a lot
Philip
All very good, thanks, although looking a bit jaded in places. The water pressure in the main house was too low for showers and apparently couldn't be corrected. This does need fixing properly
What a wonderful place. Had everything we needed. Would benefit from the road being fixed! Also showers in the main house, especially those upstairs, we lacking in power. The front door was difficult to lock and unlock from inside the house, but these were minor issues compared to the communal space that we needed. There were places where members of our large family could go for a bit of peace and quiet. It was very dog friendly and I would highly recommend this venue for large groups and families.
Great house. Very beautiful, in fact it was stunning and everyone was impressed. The spiral staircase was a real problem for us as it is the height of two normal flights of stairs and ages away from the bathroom. It was the only downfall. Kitchen was well equipped and Karen the Manager really helpful.
Victoria
The accommodation is stunning, especially the main hall which is not close to any of the bedrooms apart from the room up the spiral staircase, which we did not use. There are some lovely walks around the property, though some were a bit challenging after all the wet weather this year, but we saw deer and several hares. The water pressure was very low, especially in the upstairs rooms, making the showers disappointing.
Lynette
Lovely property in a stunning location. The half mile lane to get to the property is only suitable for 4x4s or SUVs, anything else and youre likely to damage the bottom of your car. Three of the bathrooms and the kitchen had no hot water for our stay. The bedroom up the spiral staircase isnt suitable for use. The stairs are a risk for anyone too old or young and there are no blinds in the window so its too bright for sleep.
Joanne
This was our second visit and we absolutely love the house. It is perfect for our needs and well equipped. The lane remains the only issue. Access is so tricky on the unadopted lane. One of our party damaged her car this yr in a pothole so Im not sure I will be able to persuade the group there again
We just loved Windy Mundy Farm! Stunning, unique building with amazing views, comfy beds and great facilities. Spotlessly clean, the heating generous which kept all eight of us ladies toasty warm. Also a mention of the large bath towels provided as often towels are barely big enough! A great venue which we would be happy to revisit in future.
Robert
This was my 80th birthday celebration with all our family. Windy Mundy was great for the occasion and provided for a range of interests. The house was clean and welcoming and Karen, the house manager was very helpful in advance. The house as lovely and warm and, in view of earlier comments about it smoking, we did not use or need to use the log burner. One slight problem is that there are no single rooms for solo visitors. One suggestion, given noise nuisance to people sleeping in the Annexe bedroom, would be to move the games room to one end of the large lounge and use the vacated space for an additional bedroom. This could release the spiral stairs bedroom that is without bathroom facilities and quite a distance to share facilities. Overall a super house for large gatherings which we would be very happy to use again.
We rented this for my 70th birthday party. We filled the rooms and also had guests during the day. 20 adults and 3 children for a Sunday roast made easy by the great kitchen and large dining table. The log burner worked great, with the tall curtains drawn it was very cozy. Agree at weekend in a delightful building.
Our party of 16 adults have just spent a FridayMonday weekend at fabulous Windy Mundy Farm. The building has the WOW factor especially the loungedining room. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, kitchen well equipped and overall we were warm and comfortable. Karen responded and sorted out a heating issue quickly on Saturday afternoon. The one thing to note is there are steps into the property and from the kitchen to the lounge, which a couple of our party found difficult to manage. The website details could be amended to make this clearer and also the bedroom above the spiral staircase does not have easy access to a bathroom.
Sheila
Amazing place. We had such a lovely time here. It is spectacular yet homely and cosy at the same time. The views are breath taking. Everyone who came wants me to book again for next year!! A couple of minor things the upstairs room over the lounge wasn't terribly useable. It got very smoky up there when we lit the log burner and then cold when we had to open the window. Also it would have been useful to have instructions on how to work the TV and DVD player. Other than that it was genuinely perfect and we didn't want to leave! Would highly recommend for a family groupgroup of friends.
We had a lovely few days here for a family reunion, there was plenty of space for everyone. Karen the house manager was helpful and efficient. We felt the place was very tired round the edges some bathrooms werent very clean, the showers barely worked due to low water pressure, the sofa cushions need replacing as do some of the mattresses, the duvet on one of the beds was torn and dirty, some cutlery and crockery wasnt very clean. Its a shame as the building is stunning in a great area.We would return if improvements were made.
Windy Mundy Farm is absolutely stunning. We were a large group meeting for a reunion and it was perfect for our needs.in many ways the photos dont do it justice, the main open plan area with its enormous large ceiling has a real wow factor. Karen the estates manager was in touch a week before with the arrangements and answered all our questions. The Farm is down a track that is quite remote but we were able to arrange a mini bus with a firm in Shrewsburry to pick is up and drop us off for 30 each way, which wasnt bad between 8. The wood fire hot sauna deserves a special mention...lovwly of a cold evening!
Enjoyed the property for a week in September with four generations of family and two dogs. Lovely quiet location majority of time except when farm machinery working close by! with excellent views over open countryside. The property is accessed by a long farm track whose condition is clearly weather and work dependant. On arrival the weather was dry and the track quite acceptable with little sign of the reported large potholes. However, wet weather and heavy farm machinery using the track resulted in quick deterioration. Facilities within the property quite adequate for large parties, except in the main block we were unable to get hot water at best tepid and there was very low shower pressure. Settee furnishings are tired and could do with replacement. Enjoyed the open wood burner on a couple of cool evenings. Courtyard nice and secure for dogs and small children. Overall more positives than negatives and we enjoyed our stay.
